Error 00192 Ibm Thinkpad

12:25 pm Posts: 238 Location: Toronto Hi guys, This is my first post. I have done a lot of reading here and this looks like a great community. I tried to search on this problem before posting, but

Error 00163

couldn't find an exact match to my problem. I bought a TP 600 2645 5NU on Ebay. The first few times I turned it on, it booted fine. But now it just gives me an ERROR 00192. When I run the test, it shows a system board error like this: DEV 001 ERR 96 FRU 3810 If anybody can help, I would be very appreciative. Also, maybe one of you 600 experts can help me on tis error 00301 one. But if it is the system board, can I put one in from a 600E? I looked up the FRU part number from IBM and got 10L1711 for my TP600. When I plugged that into E-bay, I found a system board from a 600E: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... Track=true Although my specific computer is not listed, the FRU compatibility seems to match? Can I indeed upgrade? If I could put a system board from a 600e in my 600, then maybe i can increse the processor speed too? Thanks for any info you can provide. The error codes can be decoded from the Hardware Maintenance Manual, available from here: 600/600E HMM Starting from page 43, there's a table of error codes. FRU 3810 refers to the fan (38 ) or the system board (10). What may be happening is that the fan is not spinning up when the system is first powered on, thus the error. As far as replacing the 600 motherboard with one from a 600E, I have no personal experience in doing that. If you search around the archives, I'm sure somebody has confirmed if rhis does or

Guest the ibm thinkpad 600e that i am working with, on boot i get the three errors 00161, 00192, 00163. i replaced the cmos battery and it made no difference. i have tried getting into the bios by holding F1 before and throughout powerup to no avail. when it finally loads up to something, it is the classic ERROR screen with the three errors listed and the arrow pointing to the manual. i can click on ok or cancel and they both do http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=37413 the same thing, basically the ok and cancel button disappear and then i can do nothing but restart the computer with the power switch which then just starts the process over. any help would be greatly appreciated , Dec 13, 2004 #1 Advertisements Bruce Markowitz Guest First of all it is likely a 600, NOT an e, the e does not generally give the 192 (fan) error Are you sure, CERTAIN, ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE you put in a new, good CMOS http://www.motherboardpoint.com/threads/error-00161-00192-00163-on-a-thinkpad-600e.236035/ battery. Try another, this is the classic CMOS battery errors. Buy a new battery and try. Many people have had the same problem with a "good" used battery. Those errors indicate a bad CMOS battery. The only option past that is a new

Gives options to http://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/tip-ibm-thinkpad-192-error-2-bleep-test-screen.222763/ test or reboot. If you press test, there are the following errors on the systemboard: DEV 001 ERR 91 Fru 3610 Which is basically IBM speak for 'What the??' Don't panic and think it has to be the systemboard. It's probably the cmos http://thinkpad.600.error.00192.winwizards.org/ battery needing replaced. This is a backup battery which keeps the system clock in time. Yes, an out of time clock on your desktop can mean you have a virus, so it's worth doing a through scan, but in most cases it's 00192 error a dying cmos battery. They should be 3 volts, so if you test your existing battery with a volt meter and it's low, better get a new one. New batteries are very cheap and in fact if you have the ability any lithium battery CR2025 should work in a 600e - a guide to how to fit these are on the web, but there's a good discussion of www.stonetable.org. If you can on boot up press F1 which should take you to the bios error 00192 ibm screen to check/adjust the internal date/clock, but it probably won't work with the 192 error, but once you've fitted a new battery do this and make sure the time/date is correct. Nevertheless, as my battery was not totally dead, I could force the IBM to boot into windows from the IBM Test screen by pressing 'reboot' and then pressing F1. Don't know why, but the laptop would then go into scan disk mode, perform a scan then boot up. I have to adjust the clock time, but once booted, the system works fine, with no errors. Odd, but okay while I'm waiting for a new battery to arrive. bahjan, Oct 15, 2008 #1 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.) Show Ignored Content Loading...
