Restart your computer. Hit the Start button and select "All Programs." Scroll up to find the menu command for Outlook Express. Relaunch the program. Sometimes a simple restart can fix errors associated with Outlook. Delete your temporary Internet files. Corrupted offline content may cause errors while you are trying to receive or send emails. Launch Internet Explorer. Click on "Tools" and select "Internet Options." Click on the "General" tab. Click on "Delete" under "Browsing History." Put a check mark beside "Temporary Internet Files" and hit the "Delete" button. Verify your account settings. Click on the Start button and select "Control Panel." Double-click on "Mail." Select your email account and hit "Properties." Verify the incoming and outgoing server addresses with your Internet provider or administrator. Also verify your email address and password. Incorrect account settings will cause problems in Outlook Express 6. Check your inbox and delete any emails that look suspicious. This includes emails from unknown users. Pay close attention to emails that have attachments. If the attachment is too big or looks unknown, delete such emails. Double-click on the "Deleted items" folder. Delete these emails permanently by selecting all and clicking on the "Delete" button.
