SSL. But it MUST be ON in order to connect. If its turned off, the server bounces back asking for a Password. On two computers (Sony & HP notebooks) the accounts work (I used them to test) - but on the PC's I do need to work with - they do not (Dell notebook and Compaq PC). The machines have a mix of Windows Home & Pro (makes no difference) and Office 2000 on most the server does not support ssl postgres of them (still errors on Outlook2002 and OE)... I'm about to try the Thunderbird mail client. compilerxp, Dec 3, 2004 #1 compilerxp Thread Starter Joined: Feb 24, 2002 Messages: 1,629 Update: I have downloaded and installed the Firefox and Thunderbird Browser & email package... I'm FINALLY impressed with Mozilla... And I like Thunderbird much more over OE. Anyways, the same issue happens. I don't have that error code since its not an OUTLOOK program... but its the same situation. I cannot connect to the SSL server. If I turn off SSL on the email client, the server asks for a password... which even thou is correct, doesn't allow log-on since its not SSL. ARGH!!! I've tried turning on some services that I have disabled with no sucess... compilerxp, Dec 3, 2004 #2 etaf Wayne Moderator Joined: Oct 2, 2003 Messages: 60,963 http://www.modemhelp.net/oeerrors/oe.shtml Symptom You may get the error message 'The server does not support a SSL connection. If SSL-secured connections have worked in the past, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' The encryption port number 0x800ccc7d outlook for SSL/TLS is actually 465 and not 587, but Outlook 2003 is also supposed to support STARTTLS which works on port 587. STARTTLS is a command for upgrading a non-encrypted connection to an encrypted one. However, the oldest version of Outlook 2003, which is Service Pack 1, has some issues with STARTTLS. So the solution to this problem is either to upgrade your Outlook, or to set the port number to 465 (with encryption enabled). You'll outlook express error also get the same error code (0x0800CCC7D) when sending mail with Outlook 2003, if you're disconnected from the Internet. So make sure that's not the case. Also make sure all the rest of the settings for the email account are correct, e.g. server names, SMTP authentication, etc. If needed, delete the account and recreate it. Check whether your antivirus/firewall software scans email messages and disable that scan. This is a common cause for many email errors. Some users of Outlook have also reported that they managed to solve this error by clearing the SSL cache. To clear the SSL cache close your email client, click on the Windows Start button in the lower left corner of you screen, then go to Control Panel>Internet Options. On the Internet Properties window that opens click on the Content tab and then on the button Clear SSL state. If you need help with configuring Outlook 2003, check out the tutorial.
