Quote Postby Pearl » Wed Nov 29, 2006 8:53 am Just like to share my own experience on setting up DS-106 running ftp service behind a router/firewall. Problem: Cannot accessing the ftp server in passive mode through the internet, but ok through the internal network. Port 21 (or whatever port you've designated Answer: If you are running the v2.0.1-3.0371 (DS-106) firmware, 1) update to the v2.0.3-0417 beta firmware to take advantage of the FTP enhancement: allows user to set the port range for passive FTP. or 2) try forward the port range (55536 - 65535) on your router to your DS. (Note: This was never documented, even on the FAQ "What network port does the services of Synology Product use?" http://www.synology.com/enu/support/hel ... p?q_id=299). I found this only after updated to the beta firmware, as it is listed under the FTP service as the default port range used in passive ftp mode. I hope Synology would update their FAQ to include these default port range being used in passive ftp. Hope this can be of help to others.
