Taylor Level 3 (720 points) Q: Entourage 2004 Error 4362 Hello,i use to see this in Entourage X and am seeing now in Entourage 2004. There is an email message (or 2) in my delete file. it does not show when i click on the folder, the sorting folder shows it as in my yesterday email and Thursday. when i try to select the message by clicking on or in these folders, the program freezes and i get the error message "unknown https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/969291 error (4362) has occurred." the folder also shows that whatever message it is has not been read, so i know it is there.this error requires me to force quit the application to regain use of it.in the older version, i figured out this was tied to my junk filter and the message in question was always spam of some type. The work around was to shut the junk filter off, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1331139?tstart=0 then i could delete the message.that doesn't work here.any ideas? Rebuild Entourage database to avoid 4362 errors Jan 24, '03 09:28:01AM • Contributed by: guillota If you have error 4362 in Entourage X while reading some messages, or folders and the application unexpectedly quits, you should http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20030124062801447 consider rebuilding the database. This is done by starting the application with the Option key pressed. Another thing to consider is that your Identity may be corrupt. In that case, make a copy of all your messages and contacts by dragging the message folders to a disk folder, and 4362 entourage export your contacts. Then create a new Identity, switch to that account, and re-import your messages and contacts, and create your mail accounts. Regularly cleaning out your sent items some, maintaining good organization - along with the occasional rebuilding has kept things running perfectly, and quickly. Once in a while, usually after a rebuild - I drag ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities/Main Identity/ (a folder) onto DropStuff to compress the files, then move the resulting archive to the other drive, or include it in normal backups for safe-keeping. A final trick... The first time you option-click on Entourage to start up in rebuild mode, it may *censored* that you should close other MS apps first. No fret. That's the database daemon still running in the background (started by your login items prefpane). Option-click again, and you should be in.
