480 Error Newsgroups Outlook Express

Advertisement lkm222 Thread Starter Joined: Dec 18, 2001 Messages: 2 Suddenly my newsgroups is returning a "480 error" when I try to enter. Other e-mail seems to function properly. Its only when I scroll down and try to log on my newsgroups that i am getting this. I believe I am using the LATEST OE. THis is driving me batty thanks. For Qwest Broadband™ and dial-in customers https://forums.techguy.org/threads/480-error.62162/ with dynamic IP addressess (assigned upon connection): you now need to provide your Qwest.net user name and password for authentication on the news server. This is a change from the past, when you were automatically granted news server access based on your IP address. This means that Qwest.net customers can enjoy Usenet from school, work, and other locations. Instructions for http://tools.centurylink.net/help/newsgroups.html news server Authentication follow for: Netscape Communicator Outlook Express Netscape Communicator Go to Netscape Communicator and open Newsgroups. Your list of newsgroups opens. Select a newsgroup. The Netscape User Prompt box appears. Type your user name in the Netscape User Prompt box and click OK. Type your password in the Password Entry Dialog box and click OK. Your newsgroup authentication is complete. You can now participate in or set up your newsgroups in Netscape. Top of Page Outlook Express Go to Tools, select Mail & News and select Read News. Note: If a 480 Authentication error message displays: Go to Tools and choose Accounts and then Properties. Select the Server tab. In Server name, enter news.qwest.net if it is not already entered. Check the box This server requires me to log on. Type your Qwest.net user name in the Account name box. Yet when I log on with my laptop [486 running Win XP SP2, with MS Office 2003] I can find, access and download all the new messages from the v
