This code keeps coming up. I have done the cold reset. It happens when the printer sits for a period of time. I do not suspect a PC based cause as it does not occur while they are printing. Just when the printer sits like when they go to lunch or when the come in to the office in the morning. They turn it off then on and it will work fine. There is no JetDirect Card, just a USB interface and 1 PC using the printer. Am I looking at formatter? or firmware? As most schools districts they have little money for major repairs so hoping this is something relatively simple. goofy errors here and there the printer has been great. Now, out of the blue (nothing has been changed or upgraded), it starts erroring out upon power up.One of http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/14057 two typical error problems:1) Power On – performs memory check (64mb **********) and hangs.2) Power https://www.helpowl.com/q/Hewlett-Packard/3800/Troubleshooting/got-message-says-49-ff05-service-error-does-mean/12139 On – performs memory check (64mb **********) begins to warm up and returns – “49.FF01 Service Error”I’ve tried a “Cold Reset”, removing RAM (not DIMM #1) & EIO’s.Once I received a 49.FF05 Service Error and once I received a “62 NO SYSTEM” error on a “Cold Reset.”The only “Tech” solutions I’m seeing is to just systematically replace parts.I’m hoping someone 49.ff05 service has some advice or has dealt with this problem before.Thank you in advance.RobertPS – I love forums like this. I have one of my own that helps people with “Siding” issues. Siding & Window Forum - http://www.siding4u.com/forum/ Respond to this 0 49FF01-49FF05 An NEC firmware error has occurred. Replace the firmware. 62 NO SYSTEM indicates a firmware eror has occurred. by moe on Nov 12, 2003 at 5:11pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 49.ff05 service error 0 Thanks for the quick response!Well I looked around to find out how to replace the firmware and it looks like I must purchase a "100 pin Firmware DIMM" which I can’t seem to find at hp.com. Any suggestions? Or where to get them? Thanks,Robert by unknown on Nov 12, 2003 at 7:13pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Check out this link:http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main?sel_flg=partlist&model=C7085 A&HP_model=C7085A&modname=Color+LaserJet+4550+\%28C7085A\%29&template=se condary&plist_sval=firmware&plist_styp=strsrch&dealer_id=&callingsite= pdo_guest&keysel=X&catsel=X&ptypsel=X&strsrch=firmware&pictype=I&pictu re=X&uniqpic=You can also call HP customer support and tell them the problem. Sometimes they will replace it under a service note if they have had problems with it. by dmzcompute on Nov 12, 2003 at 8:15pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thankyou very much! by unknown on Nov 12, 2003 at 9:11pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Ok - I replaced the firmware DIMM and it's still doing the same thing... Except now it always goes to a "49.FF01 Service Error" Sometimes it does hang and do nothing while warming up. It gets further towards the "Ready" stage before erroring out now...I'm Baffled. by unknown on Nov 14, 2003 at 10:27am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Now after a "Cold Reset" I got a "49.FF04 Service Error" by unknown on Nov 14, 2003 at 10:39am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Now I got a "6

(dot)). The general description is that a critical firmware error has occurred, but it's usually not firmware, especially if the printer has been fine until recently. Usually it's corruption in the print stream for a particular print job, so it could be the program (does this happen with print jobs from a particular application or from all applications; have you installed new software or upgraded it recently for the application that causes the error if it's always the same application?), the driver (have you recently upgraded it?), data corruption in the connection to the printer (bad network or USB cable, etc.), or maybe the firmware. If they're random, and you can clear them and bring the printer back to ready by clearing the print job out of the spooler, turning off the printer, then turning it on again, it's most likely corrupt data in a print job introduced by one or more of the factors above. If they're infrequent and not too much of a bother, you can just do that. More information - here's an HP support document on troubleshooting 49.XXXX errors: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=83436&docId=emr_na-c01558499&lang=en&cc=us Sometimes but rarely, they can be corrected with a firmware upgrade IF your model's f
