Normally a HTTP a good response will return a status of 200 OK. When a client connects to a server the client sends HTTP headers to the whith includes a contents string ( a command to the server). Any of these headers or contents may be rejected by the server. there also may be security settings, credentials, and cookies that are 500 error webresource.axd wrong. You could also have a fiewall that is blocking the connection. Your URl (including paramters) also may be wrong. I normally recommend to attempt to connect manually using an IE explorer and see if the IE works. Try both computer name and IP address of server. Don't use LocalHost on a remote PC since it will attempt to connect to the local PC instead of the host that is running the service. If the IE fails make sure you have a connection by using PING. You also may want to try the computer IP address instead of computer name in the URL to see if that works. You need to get the IE working before you attempt to get your VS application working. I also recommend using a sniffer like wireshark or fiddr to compare reults from IE with your VS application.jdweng Marked as answer by Bob ShenMicrosoft contingent staff, Moderator Wednesday, July 10, 2013 8:01 AM Friday, June 28, 2013 11:57 AM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote The 500 internal server error is a HTTP response from the server indicating the connection mode or paramters aren't compatible with the modes the server supports.
