After putting site into maintenance mode via the web, decided to use drush to do both the ctools and core updates. Problem was http 500 internal server error apache I was logged in as root and not as the site owner, so all the file ownership was wrong, and that's what caused the 500 error. After this I can´t edit any content, because of a Error 500 ["Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)"]. I din´t change the permissions of any files (all files are 640, all folders are on 755, /sites is on 777). .htaccess, web.config, .gitignore are equal to the older one. Does anybody knows a solution? Posted by RobOnema on June 29, 2015 at 9:20am Hello, I http 500 internal server error iis 6 have a problem with the Drupal 6 installation. Settings: Version Apache : Apache/2.2.22 Version MySQL : mysql Ver fix http 500 internal server error 14.14 Distrib 5.5.28 Version PHP 5.2.17 I try to install Drupal as usual (copy default.settings.php -> settings.php...). Then I go to "http://localhost" with my browser to set up the https://www.drupal.org/node/2554409 installation. But at the database configuration, when I confirm my settings, I have the HTTP 500 Internal server error. If I refresh the page, I can still continue the installation until I finish it. The problem now comes when I try to go to admin pages like modules. I can't access to these pages and I got once more https://www.drupal.org/node/2513804 the HTTP 500 Internal server error. But the weird thing is that I can still go to create contents pages and add contents : and it works ! I have checked the error.log of Apache and this is what I got: [Fri Jun 26 17:05:40 2015] [notice] Parent: Received shutdown signal -- Shutting down the server. is a good chance that all you get is a "500 internal server error". This is usually due to the .htaccess file included with the installation, and more precisely to these lines: # Follow symbolic links in this directory. Options +FollowSymLinks Some web hosts tighten up security settings and now forbid +FollowSymLinks option in .htaccess. This causes an 500 error when accesing the site. The fix is quite simple. Just replace +FollowSymLinks with +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch. So edit the lines above to this: # Follow symbolic links in this directory. # comment this one... # Options +FollowSymLinks # add this new line... Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch The issue should be fixed. Please note that there is not just one .htacess file in your Drupal 7 site. There is one in / and usually there are other .htaccess files that must be modified too, for instance in sites/default/files. You must change that one too or every image that you upload to your Drupal 7 site won't be rendered… Discussion about this topic available here: http://drupal.org/node/1269780 Posted in: Drupal \ Tagged: .htaccess, 500, d7, drupal, drupal7, error, followsymlinks, internal server error, options, security, solved, symlinksifownermatch 4 Thoughts on “Drupal 7 "500 - Internal server error" [SOLVED]” Dejan on 27/08/2013 at 14:03 said: Hi Miguel, this is working , thank you very much !!!!
