There Was A Problem Sending The Command To The Program Excel 2007

I can't uninstall Adobe to try & re install & start again. None of my pdf's will open & keep getting Fatal Error msg about DDE server. Do https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/325573 I have to take my laptop in to be serviced by a Pro to have this fixed or does anyone know of a simple (laymans terms!!) proceedure to remedy this please? When tried to uninstall keeps telling me I can't because it's open in another file but I've shut everything else down. Strange? Hi Warlock, no message straight away pdf's won't open then on task bar the Adobe logo comes up & saays Fatal Error Adobe cannot connect to a DDE server. Hope makes sense to you! resolve this https://support.lincoln.ac.uk/entries/62872339-Adobe-DDE-Error-fix issue, follow the steps below Open Adode Reader http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/mpoole/archive/2010/11/16/url-length-limitation-218-characters-for-excel-files/ – [Start]; [All Programs]; [Adobe Reader] Open Preferences – [Edit]; [Preferences] Disable protected mode – [Security (Enhanced)]; Untick [Enable Protected Mode at startup] Confirm the de-selection – [Yes] Close preferences – [OK] Close Adobe Reader, a dde You will no longer receive ‘DDE’ errors when trying to open PDF documents. Stage 2: If Adobe will not launch The Adobe DDE error fix of disabling Enhanced security protected mode relies on adobe being able to launch… If it cannot launch a dde server you cannot apply stage 1 Reset Adobe App data in the users H drive – This is usually in 2 places – Their App data and RDS folders both contain adobe subfolders with Adobe reader data in it… rename these to reader.old for example - You may need to be a little creative in spotting the folders as they appear under different names/Variations There is also a fairly obvious file in the ‘softgridclient’ folder – If this is present rename this as well. If you try to open a file with a URL that is too long, you get the following error message: The URL for this file is too long for the application. A temporary copy of this file will be opened on your computer. You must save this copy as a new file. Today, we came across a similar error message and discovered there is a limitation for Excel files of 218 characters – this is the path length limitation whether it's a URL or a file share path. If you try to open an Excel file with more than 218 characters in the path and filename, you receive the following error: A DDE error has occurred, and a description of the error cannot be displayed because it is too long. If the filename or path is long, try renaming the file or copying it to a different folder. The Microsoft article for this issue is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271513. The solution is to shorten the file path or URL by storing files at the top level (rather than "nesting" files under several folder levels).
