I have a Sub CA also running on a Server 2008 R2 a required certificate is not within its validity windows 10 that is part of a domain (the DCs for the domain are separate machines). server using the FQDN and "Issued By" the server). The Sub CA has issued certs to both users and computers (servers and workstations) in the domain. Both certificates were due to expire. Before the expiry date I managed to request a renewal of the cert issued by the CA to the Sub CA, however due to other demands on my time did not get to

the other certs. Consequently the self issued cert (on the Sub CA) and all the certs issued by the Sub CA have now expired and the automatically generated request to renew fail with an error saying that: "Certificate Request Processor: Error Parsing Request A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file. 0x800b0101 (-2146762495)" If I try to request a new certificate on one of the domain servers using the MMC snap-in then no templates are available. Yet if I try a request as a domain user then the expected templates are present, however the request fails with the error above. I've tried the advice in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931351, and have successfully generated the request, but the "certreq -submit" command fails with the above error. If I try to generate a new certificate request on the Sub CA for its self issued cert using the MMC snap-in, then I face the same problem as other servers: no available templates. I'm at a loss as to why there are no available templates so any advice would be greatly appreciated,

I did think that was an issue by the error, but they are the same time and date. 0 Sonora OP paulbloem Apr 27, 2014 at 8:44 UTC The cert will only show up in the Cert Wizard window posted above if it actually exists in the Certificate store. Thats why you can't remove it...its already gone (manually removed as you have stated)

Posted on 2008-01-21 Windows Server 2003 1 Verified Solution 8 Comments 2,491 Views Last Modified: 2012-04-19 I have managed to get the CA in a state where it won't accept enrollment requests and don't know how to proceed. Background: I have a stand alone root CA on a Windows 2003 Server. It has been working fine for about a year. We use it in conjuction with SCEP and a PIX firewall for a VPN solution using certificates. Previsouly (until my changes, more on that later), users could request a certificate from the Cisco VPN client and it would be set to pending, we would go in to the CA using the MMC and approved the pending requests then end users would retrieve the approved cert into their Cisco VPN client software. That was well and good. Our first batch of users certs are expiring and we wanted to look into having them last longer than one year (i'm sure there are many arguments against that). I found an article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254632) detailing how to modify the registry on the server to extend the expiration date of issued certs. I followed those instructions and that worked fine. At that point I could enroll a new cert, approve it, download it, and it would have an expiration date that matched the limit set in the registry. However, the client management wanted to extend that period out a number of years and i then ran into the fact that the issued certificates can't have an expiration date past that of the CA's own certificate. At this point all was still fine, until I started trying to figure out how to extend the expiration date of the existing CA certificate (looks like it defaulted (o
