Retrieves some stuff from db. I have the dll registered. No source code tho. –Broken Link Jan 10 '11 at 17:35 Try writing a small .vbs file that create the object, just to rule out problems in the component itself. Maybe the components depends on some outside file, ODBC registry, etc. –Eduardo Molteni Jan 10 '11 at 19:24 This links may help 15seconds.com/faq/Errors/476.htm and 15seconds.com/faq/Errors/362.htm –Eduardo Molteni Jan 10 '11 at 19:27 | show

Dec 22, 2015 09:38 PM|nc3|LINK Today I discovered a very strange IIS a trappable behavior on a new build. I am using the same code, the same database, but for some reason I am not getting the expected "traditional" error. Normally the error looks like this: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e0c' Command text was not set for the command object. Pagename.asp line 123 but for some inexplicable reason that same error on the other system looks like this: Active Server Pages error a trappable error 'ASP 0115' Unexpected error /home.asp A trappable error (C0000005) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running. A C0000005 error is useless. How can I get a normal error on that system? I am on a Windows 10 Pro 64bit system; and code classic ASP; connecting to MySQL DB using PROVIDER=MSDASQL;DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 5.3 ANSI Driver} ... The only difference between this new build is that I am using this: DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 5.3 ANSI Driver}, on the older system I am using this: DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver} Reply Angie xu - M... 670 Posts Microsoft Re: getting "A trappable error (C0000005) occurred" instead of "OLE DB Provider" error? Dec 23, 2015 08:31 AM|Angie xu - MSFT|LINK Hi, In ODBC there are different APIs for ASNI and UNICODE. According to your description, you changed the MySQL ODBC from 5.1 Unicode to 5.3 ANSI. The APIs worked well with 5.1 Unicode, butbrought errors when with 5.3 ANSI. I suggest that you can change MySQL ODBC 5.3 ANSI to MySQL ODBC 5.3 Unicode to avoid these errors.
