Advertisement benish Thread Starter Joined: Dec 10, 2010 Messages: https://forums.techguy.org/threads/cache-access-denied.1066840/ 7 Hi, i've just joined a new company, and for weeks when trying to use the web https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6456588?start=0&tstart=0 I got the error of cache access denied. Typing my user/pass didn't work (in IE) Finally today I was given access to the web and by entering my user/pass in IE I'm up and running. I then installed firefox and google chrome but they don't seem to be working. There is no box asking for my login details. I also tried to run the update for access denied java but that didn't work either. Seems that only IE knows the settings and everything else still is denied... I asked my boss for help but she said 'whats wrong with using IE' and wouldn't ask for help. Can anyone help. Which settings need configuring??? Thanks benish, Aug 28, 2012 #1 Sponsor baybeejayy21 Joined: Aug 27, 2012 Messages: 9 Open IE and click tools/internet options/Connections/LAN settings button and uncheck Proxy Server and leave all feilds empty. Close IE and reopen. cache access denied If that doesnt work check the box Auto detect settings. Close IE and reopen. baybeejayy21, Aug 28, 2012 #2 valis Moderator Joined: Sep 24, 2004 Messages: 70,810 better yet, just ask your IT department to configure those browsers for you. We generally can't assist on work-related rigs. Where I work, IE is the only browser allowed; it could easily be the same for your workplace. valis, Aug 28, 2012 #3 benish Thread Starter Joined: Dec 10, 2010 Messages: 7 Thanks guys Ill try this out tomorrow. I can't be arsed logging it with IT, its a long process and takes weeks for a response unless escalated... and they will probs just tell me to get a grip and stick with IE! haha Hipefully changing these settings baybeejay says won't screw up my access rights, otherwise its a long wait! benish, Aug 28, 2012 #4 valis Moderator Joined: Sep 24, 2004 Messages: 70,810 well, I can tell you, we really can't assist with bypassing work restrictions.......regardless of how long it takes. I work in IT, and I have indeed seen people let go for unauthorized internet access; we put those restrictions in for a reason (network security, primarily) and when they are bypassed, well, that sorta defeats the purpose. As this is a work pc, and the purpose can be handled by your IT department (even though it may take longer) I'm going to have to close this. thanks for understanding, v va

While tying to get the server to stop asking for my password every 60 seconds and following advice on this forum, something seems to have happened and safari stopped loading pages. The message regarldless of the page is:Cache Access Denied. The following error was encountered while trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.apple.com/Cache Access Denied.Sorry, you are not currently allowed to request http://www.apple.com/ from this cache until you have authenticated yourself. Please contact the cache administrator if you have difficulties authenticating yourself or change your default password.Firefox and Chrome work fine - except they still ask for my password at regular intervals.I managed to transfer my bookmarks to firefox and am just wondering if this is worth it anymore. DO I really need safari? You cannot even re-install it! You have to do the whole operating system. Or should I migrate to Mavericks and a new upgraded safari? I am fed up of trying endless work arounds that simply do not work for me. Emptying caches, disabling extensions, dumping prefs etcAny help greatly appreciated! I saw this solution on another post - I think from you! Also about turning off extensions which also made no difference Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by Linc Davis, Linc Davis Jul 19, 2014 3:05 PM in response to lookandsee Level 10 (208,000 points) Applications Jul 19, 2014 3:05 PM in response to lookandsee What had you done just before the prob
