I http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/321316-rootkit-infection-avast-error-access-denied-5-when-attempts-to-dele/ clicked change to find that it had lowered my firewall protection to low (Home Computer Setting). Not knowing if this setting was or should be higher, this made me nervous so I increased the level and went about my business. Unfortunately it happened a couple more times. Finally went into the scan area of Avast to see what the latest scan had found. I had previously set Avast to scan on Sunday mornings around 2 a.m. but when I went to check on the scan log it told me that the computer had never been scanned and the scheduled scan I had set up was missing. I immediately ran a scan to find several programs infected by a rootkit threat. When I attempted to delete the threats I was given the error code "Error: Access Denied (5)". I received similar error codes when I attempted actions like remove to chest. I just can't shake the beast!Additionally I was notified by facebook a week or so ago that my account had been accessed by a remote computer in Malasya. Since I have my fb account set up to notify me when my account has been accessed by any computer other than the home lappy or home PC and requires an OK from me, I d

(I know.. I know... :/ ) I thought I could trust... then Avast Free Antivirus alerted me something about a rootkit and stuff I cant remember error access denied at all or what it said exactly..So then Avast told me it needs to restart to finish up the cleaning process..? So I did. Then it did a Boot-Time Scan before it booted up. It detected nothing. So far, I've scanned the computer with:Avast Antivirus - Boot-Time ScanAvast Antivirus - Normal Full Scan (With highest sensitivity and most thorough settings)Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Full ScanSUPERAntiSpyware - Full ScanAnd they all didn't detect anything. So Im not sure. Maybe Avast got rid of whatever it was before it got through..?BUT when I went through the scan logs of Avast it found 2 viruses which weren't treated a few days before this happened. They are 2 of the same file:File Name:C:\Users\michelle\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Bigpond (mi 3a8\Inbox\64483DE2-000000D6.eml|>PastedGraphic-1.tiff#646407370Status:Threat: TIFF:CVE-2013-3906 [Expl]Severity:HighWhats funny is, when I tried to move to chest, it didn't work and said: Error: Access is denied (5) for both files. I tried deleting them and it worked though. Also, there is this file in the Avast Virus Chest that was transfered there on the say this happened so it could have something to do with all this:Name:IDriver
