So I deleted the new users, and I guess I removed the 'root' and 'Admin' accidentally. Then http://superuser.com/questions/603026/mysql-how-to-fix-access-denied-for-user-rootlocalhost I try to create 'root' again, but get Access denied error when doing grant all privileges. mysql> CREATE USER 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; mysql> grant all privileges on *.* to 'root'@'localhost' identified by 'password' with grant option; ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) If I login mysql again using $ mysql -u root -p, and show databases, +--------------------+ | Database | +--------------------+ | information_schema | +--------------------+ All the other databases are gone. How do I fix mysql now? I cannot cannot find the database 'mysql', cannot create database, create user, anything I try to do will get an error ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES). Should I reinstall mysql using macports? If reinstall, I will lost the database 'game_data', right? mysql user-accounts login privileges share|improve this question edited Dec 31 '15 at 11:36 Eric Leschinski 2,71542642 asked Jun 3 '13 at 7:32 Vogelsire 363146 migrated from stackoverflow.com Jun 3 '13 at 8:32 This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers. Try accesing the server with 'root'@'127.0.0.1' which is diferent from 'root'@'localhost'. Then issue a command to create the user 'root'@'localhost' and grant all privileges to it. –Gimmy Jun 3 '13 at 8:06 Also see How to have MySQL entitle the root user? on Super User. It attempts to
Us MySQL ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root' - Solution Contents[Hide]Symptom:Solution: 1.Symptom: Unable to access MySQL database remotely using root account. Any attempt to https://linuxconfig.org/mysql-error-1045-28000-access-denied-for-user-root-solution access MySQL database will result in error: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access http://serverfault.com/questions/620694/mysql-remote-connection-access-denied-for-user-usernamelocalhost-using-p denied for user 'root'@'ip-address' (using password: YES) 2.Solution: The above MySQL error message is a default behavior of the MySQL server to disallow a Root user to connect remotely as by default the Root user is allowed to connect to MySQL server on from localhost that is access denied 127.0.0.1. The solution is to create a new admin user. The below SQL commands will create new user called admin and grant remote access: mysql> CREATE USER 'admin'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY ''; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'admin'@'%' WITH GRANT OPTION; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) Alternative but not access denied for recommended solution is to grant remote MySQL access to root user: mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'root'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) The above line will grant a privilege to the root user to connect remotely: $ mysql -u root -ppassword -h 172.17.0.14 Welcome to the MariaDB monitor.
