Sharepoint 2010 Access Denied For Some Users
only takes a minute: Sign up team foundation server sharepoint web site access permissions up vote 4 down vote favorite Please help. Am newbie and have hit a snag with TFS and Sharepoint combo. Come from old school where in IIS you right click and set permissions of Web Site, and now I can't find the sharepoint sites in IIS sharepoint 2010 access denied site collection administrator 7 to actually give myself permissions. When opening the localhost/ sites/ project in IE, i get an Error: Access Denied. This is the sharepoint site that was set up by TFS when I added a project in Visual Studio 2010 to my TFS ProjectCollection. How do I get access to the web site? If you are or you know the SP Site collection administrator, ask them to give you the appropriate access to the SP site you are requesting. Otherwise, if there are no site collection administrators then go a level higher to the SP farm administrator, ask the farm admin to grant make you the site collection administrator for the SP Site collection you are trying to access. The team project site is located under a site collection.

to access the TFS instance for the first time. Whenever she tries to connect to the instance, either via Team Explorer in VS 2010 (trying to bring up the Connect to Team Project dialog) or via the web (needs to pick a collection/project), she's getting an error: "Access Denied: DOMAIN\user needs the following permission(s) to perform this action: View instance-level information". Given the fact that she can't even get the list of collections, let alone a list of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12748389/team-foundation-server-sharepoint-web-site-access-permissions projects within any particular collection, it seems that it's a problem with permissions / security for the whole instance (which is what the error message implies). To get this out of the way, I have run the Best Practices Analyzer; and it gives the installation a clean bill of health (some warnings about Build and Lab Manager not being configured, but we haven't started using those; and I don't think they're relevant). If I understand the TFS security model https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/cfe9f8cd-794a-4d4c-a1f5-6e83cf43e611/tfs-2010-user-getting-access-denied-needs-the-view-instancelevel-information-permission?forum=tfsadmin (and I may not - it's overly complex), the any user within any group within the (read-only) "[TEAM FOUNDATION]\Valid Users" group should have access to whatever permissions that grouphas. I haven't changed the permissions of that group, and if I look at its Security settings, the Allow "View instance-level information" checkbox is checked. Since that's the permission in question, any user who is in that highest level "Valid Users" group should have the required access. Looking then at the groups which are members of the "[TEAM FOUNDATION]\Valid Users" group, all of the other [TEAM FOUNDATION] groups are listed as well as the "Project Collection Valid Users" groups for each of the 3 collections in our TFS instance. So we have to look at what groups / users are within those 3 "Project Collection Valid Users" groups. Two of our collections have no projects within them at this point. So those two "Project Collection Valid Users" groups only have the 6 predefined Project Collection groups in them (Administrators, Build Administrators, Build Service Accounts, Proxy Service Account, Service Accounts, Test Service Accounts). So the user who is having this problem is *not* in those 2 "Valid Users" groups. Our 3rd collection has 2 projects in it. The "Readers" and "Contributors" groups for each of those projects have a domain group (DOMAIN\TFSDevelopers)in them of which my user is a member. To spell it out completely: - My
21, 20102 0 0 0 If you’ve decided to integrate your TFS 2010 infrastructure with Microsoft’s enterprise-ready SharePoint Server 2010 (MOSS) then https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/chrad/2010/07/21/tfs-dashboards-in-moss-2010-return-access-denied-for-tfsolapreport-to-end-users/ you are in for quite a store, both good and potentially bad. MOSS is extremely powerful platform that many customers of ours are investing in and we certainly understand https://absolute-sharepoint.com/2014/01/tfs215106-access-denied-needs-queue-builds-permissions.html why. However, the frustration often comes when you have competing heads – the TFS infrastructure “guys” and the SharePoint “gals – trying to get all the pieces working and playing access denied together well. In today’s post, I will share some insight that had our TFS consultants scratching their head and our MOSS folks (me – and can I say I’m limited) spinning around and saying “Just make it work…” The beauty of working at Microsoft is the ability to find the right people and get the assistance needed to make it sharepoint 2010 access work. This is the reward we get and that reward I’m happy to share with those of you that run into the same thing. Goal The goal here is to get TFS integrated fully into MOSS 2010 and, in particular, using Excel Web Services to display critical data in the TFS Dashboards. Understanding Excel Web Services & TFS Integration John Socha, a colleague and friend of mine, helped me quickly understand how the TFS Excel reports work with respect to TFS. Excel workbooks have “cached” data embedded within the XLSX files themselves that is accessible via the Excel or via Excel Web Services. By default, Excel Web Services (EWS) utilizes a SharePoint feature called Secure Store Service (or abbreviated often as SSS) to allow individuals who do not have direct access to the data source of the workbook to see the data within EWS. Access Denied by External Data – TfsOlapReport The reports start coming in as soon as you roll out TFS 2010 that you are having issues with “reports” showing up on the dashboard

January 16, 2014 Categories: Other by Vlad Catrinescu When Trying to Queue a new Build Definition, You might get this error: TFS215106: Access denied. Domain\User needs Delete build definition permissions for the build definition MybuildDefintion in team project MyTeamProject to perform this action. You might get this even if you are a Project Administrator or have all the other rights in TFS because the inheritance for builds might have been broken to provide more security. For example, in my organization, only 2 persons are allowed to launch Build Definitions in UAT and Production. If you ONLY need access on this build right click the build name and click Security. Then add yourself with all the permissions…. However if you're a TFS Admin and you will have to deploy more builds you can go in the security of the TFS Server by right clicking on your default collection, clicking on Team Project Collection Settings and then Group Membership. And then add your username to the Project Collection Build Administrators Group.
