Sharepoint 2010 Access Denied Page Customization
a site collection in SharePoint 2010 and hierarchy of 2 subsites( sitecollection/subsite1/subsite2) under that. I am dealing with subsite 2. Sub site 2 doesn't inherit permissions from its parent. I added a user in one of its group and assigned "View Only" permission to the group. But when I try to Login with newly added user it gives me "Access denied". Why is this so. This user can only log on to the site if sharepoint 2010 access denied by business data connectivity its added as Site Collection Administrator. Please help me understand this problem. 2010 permissions access-denied share|improve this question asked Jul 18 '12 at 8:38 V.B 41821534 What is the URL the user is trying to access when getting access denied, are they accessing the subsite directly through http://sitecollection/subsite2 or attempting to get into http://sitecollection first? –PlanetWilson Jul 18 '12 at 8:42 User tries to access the subsite2 directly. –V.B Jul 18 '12 at 8:46 The user can access the site only with "Full Control" permission. –V.B Jul 18 '12 at 9:01 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Create a group and give Read Level permissions on the subsite. Include the user in that group and try to access the subsite directly from that user. The masterpage referred by the subsite should also be a published and approved version. Verify any webparts that may be added in the landing page of the subsite. Verify the permissions of the document library where the landing page resides in. Ideally the group where the user is added should have a Read level permission on that document library. share|improve this answ

Error: Access Denied – SharePoint2010 Posted on July 27, 2011 by Brad Saide Had a tricky problem which took a little while to solve today: Some users were granted contribute permissions to https://kb4sp.wordpress.com/2011/07/27/error-access-denied-sharepoint-2010/ a SharePoint site, but only members of the Owner group could see the site – everyone else got this message. At first I thought it might have been a problem caused by http://underthehood.ironworks.com/2011/05/sharepoint-2010-access-denied-for-users-that-have-full-control-on-the-site.html the migration of this site from QA to Production (which only happened a few days before) – but the site looked fine. Then I noticed that some of the services were shut down access denied on the server (including the “server” service, which was causing problems with the Search index distribution as having it off prevents SMB shares from being created or used) – but the problem remained when the services were re-enabled. Then I started thinking through all of the situations where something like this error would appear and it occurred to me that someone might have changed the sharepoint 2010 access permissions on the siteassets library or something similar… so to test I went to a document library (which I knew did not have security access based on a page library) and saw the same error there as well! But… I could get to a list with one of the problem accounts, no worries. It turned out that one of the administrators (who has since received some more training) decided to lock down access to the Document library… but was a bit overzealous and also locked down access to the “Site Pages” library in the same site! That explained why half the pages were coming up access denied for the majority of users. And because the inheritance had been broken on the Doc Library, the SharePoint groups had to be added there as well. Essentially the root cause was User Error caused by a Poor Governance model and lack of training. So what’s the moral of the story? If you have access permissions for some users but not all, the solution may be as simple as checking the security of the lists and libraries that appear on this page: http://MyFancySite/_layouts/uniqperm.aspx – you are look
on the site Scenario: Users get "Access Denied" over the whole site, despite having Full Control permission Site Collection Administrators have no problem logging in Explanation: A SharePoint 2010 site that uses claims-based authentication has been extended to Intranet zone that uses AD as well as FBA. The site has number of users in the default owners and members groups. All the site users always get access denied over the whole site even though they clearly have access to the site through the site groups. Site Collection Administrators are allowed to access the site and have no problems logging in. Resolution: Make sure that all the Master page, CSS files, any other files that are required are published. If there are files that are required in the master pages and are not published, users will get access denied even if they have full control on the site. If you are ok with giving all authenticated users atleast road-only access to all files inorder to prevent the access denied problem, then you can try the below. Add a new "User Policy" for the web application that allows "All Authenticated Users" the permissions "Full Read" on the desired zone. Per a request from Nosika, I have updated the post with some screenshots that might be helpful. Go to Central Administration Click on Application Management Click on Manage Web Applications Choose the desired web application: Click on "User Policy" Click on "Add Users" to add a new User Policy: Select the zone that you want to apply the new policy to. If you are not sure what to choose, leave the defaut value selected (All Zones) and cick next Choose the permissions that you would like to give to the user(s) in this new user policy. If you do not want to give the user(s) full permission, choose "Full Read". This permission ensures that all the users in this policy can alteast access the site. Then click on "Browse" icon in the "Choose Users" area. If you would ike to give All Authenticated Users / AD users / FBA users "Full Read" access, then choose the appropriate group(s). In the next screens, click OK to get out of the wizard. Your new user policy should be ready now. Posted by Chaitu Madala on 05/
