Typing my user/pass didn't work (in IE) Finally today I was given access to the web and by entering my user/pass in IE I'm up and running. I then installed firefox and google chrome but they don't seem to be working. There is no box asking for my login details. I also tried to access denied run the update for java but that didn't work either. Seems that only IE knows the settings and everything else still is denied... I asked my boss for help but she said 'whats wrong with using IE' and wouldn't ask for help. Can anyone help. Which settings need configuring??? Thanks benish, Aug 28, 2012 #1 Sponsor baybeejayy21 Joined: Aug 27, 2012 Messages: 9 Open IE and click tools/internet options/Connections/LAN settings button and uncheck Proxy Server and leave all feilds cache access denied empty. Close IE and reopen. If that doesnt work check the box Auto detect settings. Close IE and reopen. baybeejayy21, Aug 28, 2012 #2 valis Moderator Joined: Sep 24, 2004 Messages: 70,848 better yet, just ask your IT department to configure those browsers for you. We generally can't assist on work-related rigs. Where I work, IE is the only browser allowed; it could easily be the same for your workplace. valis, Aug 28, 2012 #3 benish Thread Starter Joined: Dec 10, 2010 Messages: 7 Thanks guys Ill try this out tomorrow. I can't be arsed logging it with IT, its a long process and takes weeks for a response unless escalated... and they will probs just tell me to get a grip and stick with IE! haha Hipefully changing these settings baybeejay says won't screw up my access rights, otherwise its a long wait! benish, Aug 28, 2012 #4 valis Moderator Joined: Sep 24, 2004 Messages: 70,848 well, I can tell you, we really can't assist with bypassing work restrictions.......regardless of how long it takes. I work in IT, and I have indeed seen people let go for unauthorized internet access; we put those restrictions in for a reason (network security, primarily) and when they are bypassed, well, that sorta defeats the purpose. As this is a work pc, and the purpose can be handled by your IT department (even though it may take longer) I'm going to

Sorry, you are not currently allowed to request: http://www.google.com.au/ighttp://www.google.com.au/ig from this cache until you have authenticated yourself. You need to use Netscape version 2.0 or greater, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0, or an HTTP/1.1 compliant browser for this to work. Please contact the cache administrator if you have difficulties authenticating yourself or change your default password.I have removed the cache files, Safari preference files. Installed Safari 6.0.5 update again and no luck. However this does not happen in Google Chrome and Firefox. I initially thought it maybe a proxy problem, so I disbled proxies and still no luck. I read on Apple Discussions that someone got the same problem but on a Windows machine and selected auto detect. I tried that in System Preferences and still no go.This is quite frustrating. Any help please? Thanks iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4) Posted on Sep 12, 2013 4:54 PM I have this question too Close Q: Safari Error Cache Access Denied All replies Helpful answers by Linc Davis, Linc Davis Sep 12, 2013 5:29 PM in response to Jopeden Level 10 (208,000 points) Applications Sep 12, 2013 5:29 PM in response to Jopeden From the Safari menu bar, select Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions Turn all extensions OFF and test. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.
