Access Denied Apple Support
with Mac Parental Controls Posted on 2010-05-27 Mac OS X Apple OS 2 Verified Solutions 3 Comments 1,413 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-12 We have two stand alone Macs in our office. They are not on our network. Our http://www.pbs.org/teacherline/support/article/9/ organization uses a proxy, and I've been tasked with adding it to the Macs. In addition, the users have to be locked out from changing the settings. To accomplish this, I've enabled Parental Controls and allowed Safari as the only browser. Once I enable the controls and the proxy, the workstations are able to browse. However, if left alone for 15-20 minutes, Safari will inevitably return a Cache Access Denied error. The proxy settings work fine https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/26218371/Cache-Access-Denied-error-with-Mac-Parental-Controls.html without Parental Controls enabled. The Parental Controls work with no trouble as long as the proxy settings are turned off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've deleted the cache and reset Safari. I even went so far as to uninstall/reinstall Safari, but the Cache Access Denied error persists. 0 Question by:boblew Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 10 Best Solution byOwen Rubin "They are not on our network" How do they browse at all? :-) But seriously, doesn't parental controls use a proxy to control web access as well? My recommended solution is to use your firewall as the parental controls (blocking specific sites or even only allowing specific sites) rather than the built in mac parental controls. 0 LVL 10 Overall: Level 10 Apple OS 7 Mac OS X 4 Message Accepted Solution by:Owen Rubin2010-06-01 "They are not on our network" How do they browse at all? :-) But seriously, doesn't parental controls use a proxy to control web access as well?
