He is writing the pages in regular ASP (not ASP.NET) and I am responsible for building him an interface into our database. I have built a data access layer for him with Visual Studio .NET 2003 (Visual Basic .NET). The DataAccess assembly is a strong-named assembly. The dll is registered on the web server (in the bin directory of the website)with: RegAsm.exe DataAccess.dll /codebase The web designer uses server.create object to make instances of the DataAccess objects My Hardware / Software Details Web Server OS = Windows Server 2003 (All patches and upgrades are current). It's usually when I add a reference to a 3rd party COM component. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot my machine which happens frequently. All I'm doing is going http://forums.asp.net/t/346375.aspx?Configuration+Error+Access+is+denied to Add Reference, pointing at the desired assembly and letting .NET create the wrapper and add it to my project. I'm not making any changes to web.config or machine.config. For strong named assemblies, I can just add it to the GAC and the problem disappears. For 3rd party controls, I don't have that option. Is there another step here that I'm missing? This is EXTREMELY frustrating and time consuming. Any help would be tremendous. Here's the asp.net error text: Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request.
