turns out, this is not vbscript access denied always true (I know, we're all so surprised). loading script c windows run vbs failed access is denied While converting a series of Perl scripts to SQL scripts launched via small windows server 2012 run vbscript VBS files, I ran into this on a test box. Here's the things to check:Fire up Regedit (Windows Server 2003) or https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/233513 Regedt32 (Windows 2000 Server)Registry Keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Script Host\Settings
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Script Host\Settings
Make sure that you have both of those keys and that the permissions are set ensuring that the ID you're using to execute CSCRIPT can read them.If you're on Server http://acousticiris.blogspot.com/2006/10/cscript-error-loading-your_116224375296949433.html 2K3, right-click the key and choose "Permissions"If you're on Windows 2000 Server, click "Permissions..." at the top of the window after clicking the key.Didn't work?Check out the same HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key and look for
DWORD TrustPolicy
If it's not present, add it and set the value to "0". Note that in doing so, you're allowing CScript to run any script called (approved/unapproved without prompting).Don't do this unless you are sure it won't pose a security risk to the server/workstation you're trying to "fix".Have fun!.ai posted by acousticiris at 7:28 PM 0 Comments: Post a Comment Links to this post: See links to this post <$BlogBacklinkTitle$> <$BlogBacklinkSnippet$> posted by <$BlogBacklinkAuthor$> @ <$BlogBacklinkDateTime$> Create a Link << Home

The problem is that I get "access denied" when its running. I have tried to get administrator privileges but the UAC still appears. Can anybody give me a script to run my vbs as administrator and disable UAC when its running? Here is the code : option explicit dim folder, root, f1, source, destination, regedit, WshNetwork function CopyFile(source, destination) dim access is denied filesys set filesys=CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") If filesys.FileExists(source) Then filesys.CopyFile source, destination End If end function Set WshNetwork = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network") set folder = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") set root = folder.GetFile(Wscript.ScriptFullName) source = root destination = "c:\Documents And Settings\" & WshNetwork.UserName &"\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\whatever.vbs" call CopyFile(source, destination) destination = "c:\Windows\System32\whatever.vbs" -> in here access is denied call CopyFile(Source, destination) vbscript share|improve this question edited Jul 18 '12 at 20:24 Linus Kleen 20.7k76183 asked Jul 18 '12 at 5:35 NPE 62731641 We can't modify UAC settings via code –Anuraj Jul 18 '12 at 5:40 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted You need to run this script as an Administrator or a user will Administrator privileges: runas /user:Administrator cscript vbscript.vbs You can alternatively run it in an elevated Command Prompt or disable UAC entirely: reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f ... and reboot the system. There is no way to programmatically do what it is you are asking. The entire purpose of UAC to "get in the way" of a such script running and throw up a warning when a process attempts privileged access. share|improve this answer answered Aug 14 '12 at 21:56 treehead 2006 For me the runas worked withou
