I'm trying to save image to the folder in .net c# but get this exception: Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\images\savehere' is denied. The error occured at mscorlib because at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.FileStream.Init(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4877741/access-to-the-path-is-denied Boolean useLongPath) at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy) at System.IO.FileStream..ctor(String path, FileMode mode) I gave full control to this folder (savehere) to network service and iis_iusrs, even gave full control to everyone but still getting this exception. I tried to give access via explorer and via IIS manager, still no luck I'm doing it on Windows server 2008 R2 and IIS 7.5, Who do I need to give access? I don't know much about Windows server, but it may be that it doesn't allow access to a `C:` root path. –Michael K Feb 2 '11 at 17:47 Future readers: Check permissions on the file. –Ruskin Jan 12 '15 at 14:22 add a comment| 15 Answers 15 active oldest votes up vote 56 down vote accepted You need to find out from the application pool for the website what is the identity it is running under (by default this is Application Pool Identity) and grant that the correct permissions. share|impro
working on was not starting because of this idiotic error:ASP.NET 2.0 Parser Error Message: Access to the path '[something.cs]' is denied. And further down:No relevant source linesThe only thing I remembered https://siderite.blogspot.com/2006/09/aspnet-20-parser-error-message-access.html doing was close the project in Visual Studio and work on another. I tried starting the site with the URL, without loading it into Visual Studio and the error occured. If you search on http://www.telerik.com/forums/open-file-server-error-in-application the net this error, you will see that there are a lot of articles that talk about the ind*exing ser*vice, but I stopped it a long time ago. So what was going on?The access to file was accessibleThe file was not opened by another applicationI could freely delete/remove/modify the fileIn desperation I compared the Security settings for this file with other files in the directory. To my surprise, there was a major difference. The files that were accessible had a lot of users with access rights to them, the file that gave the error had around three.I have no idea what caused this. access to the I just copied the same rights from the other files to the problematic one and it worked. I am using Visual Studio 2005, Resharper and SourceSafe. Do you also hear the Twilight Zone soundtrack? Email This BlogThis! I detailed my experience at my blog for another solution to this problem. 22 November, 2008 03:47 Siderite said... Thank you Sonny, it was probably the same thing. What I don't get is what has caused the permissions to change? 24 November, 2008 10:05 Post a Comment Search About me I am a .NET programmer living and working in Bucharest, Romania.
