It starts with "Configuring Virtual Disk File System". Check! Then the Jowood and Pyranha logos load OK. Check! Then the main Gothic II menu appears: "New game", "Configuration", etc... (at this stage, the mouse doesn't work, so you have to use the keyboard arrows to scroll up/down" plus "Enter" to select. By th way, it states this is version 2.7 ENG...So I select "New game". The progress bar increases... At about the two thirds mark, I'm back to desktop with the mouse not working and an open windows called "Application Error - Access Violation". I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to close the session. Now, this is squarely a Steam Client issue. Something went wrong when they upgraded to a new version. The proof? Rep: 19Registered: Jul 2012From United KingdomPosted August 30, 20141 Hi Folks, I owned Gothic 1 on steam but was continuously getting an access violation everytime I ran it. I tried running it in compatibility mode and even tried the 'administrator' idea. Nothing has worked. I now buy it from GoG thinking that would fix it but I get exactly the same thing.
