Invalid Default Script Language P: n/a Elmo Watson I have IIS installed on my computer (XP pro) - - I have the DotNet Framework installed - - ASP.net runs fine - but any time I run even the simplest Classic ASP script/page, I get the following error: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0201' Invalid Default Script Language The default script language specified for this application is invalid. I've tried adding Language=VBscript at the top of the page I've gone into IIS - the default language is VBScript - I've tried changing it to Javascript and back again - no luck. http://forums.iis.net/t/1154047.aspx?Active+Server+Pages+error+ASP+0201+where+is+the+FIX+ Tried re-registering the asp.dll and others, like scrrun.dll, just because someone on the net suggested it. IIS Reset - nothing I've tried numerous other things - but no luck still - - any ideas? Aug 9 '05 #2 P: n/a Elmo Watson Yep - done it all - put : <% language="VBScript"%> even tried without the double quotes and removing it altogether Went into IIS - made VBScript the default scripting language (which comes up by default anyway) Another suggestion was to change to Javascript - open it up again and change it back to VBScript - did that too. Installed 5.6 of the scripting engine all to no avail. It still doesn't work - - I am down to a page with only: <% response.Write ("whatever") %> Nothing - same error. "Bob Barrows [MVP]"
this last year and never found a solution. I am hoping that someone has had this problem since that time and has a solution. http://support.dataaccess.com/Forums/archive/index.php?t-44229.html Windows XP Pro, VDF 15, 16. When attempting to run any of the AJAX webapps or any of my own newly created test web apps, I get the error above that says "Invalid Default Script language Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0201' ". I have searched Microsoft but they only have one post that says "change your default script language". Of course active server the default is correct VBScript. I have changed it anyway, but it does not help. I have uninstalled the IIS and reinstalled it, but that did not help. I have searched on Google and found some people who think they solved it with the above but it did not work for me. Desperate after almost a year. I have used another pc in active server pages the mean time. Any help appreciated. Dennis Piccioni10-Nov-2010, 05:00 PMHi Tod, this is really an IIS, not a VDF Web Application Server, error. Check out this link (http://classicasp.aspfaq.com/general/why-do-i-get-invalid-default-script-language-errors.html). Tod Brannen11-Nov-2010, 08:45 AMDennis, After uninstalling and reinstalling IIS again, I was able to get the Ajax Order webapp to display on the screen. The bad news, it freezes if I try to go to any menu item such as Data Entry or Customer. It displays a blank screen and sometimes there is a visible combo control but that is all. If I go to the debugger, and pause the program the cursor is always on the command "Start WebApp". I have to X out of IE and get the message "program is not resoponding" and I click the "End Now" button. I tried the suggestion on the link you gave, but no change, it still freezes. Dennis Piccioni11-Nov-2010, 10:09 AMI'd start at a more basic level. Does the ASP test page run? Then try a non-Ajax sample, like web-order, then try Ajax.
