To do this: Open explorer and navigate to the file. The file is usually stored in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007.? If you cannot find the folder please set your explorer to show hidden files. (To do this: open explorer, go to the "Tools" menu and click "Folder Options." Select the "View" tab and choose "Show Hidden Files" under "Hidden Files and Folders".) The file to remove is called "settings.aaw". Please be sure not to delete any other files. Restart your computer. Ad-Aware will start as normal. If it does, you will need to go back into the Settings section to re-set any changes you may have made to the default settings. If not, make sure that you are using the latest version of AAW 2007 - if you are using the AAW 2007 Free, then download the latest version (7.0.2.3) from here, uninstall the present version and install v7.0.2.3.Should you have either of the licensed versions (Plus or Pro), then log into the Support

Description: Could not login to service. Are you running this application as another user? Application terminates. " I noticed another post about this same error message. It said to delete the definitions file named core.aawdef or something like that, then restart the computer. I looked in the directory and http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/24359-system-error-1814/ did not find any file named core. I then opened the help user manual that was installed back when I put adaware on my computer. It said to download the latest definitions file manually from the lavasoft website. Since that file comes in a zip file, it said to extract the contents to the location where adaware was stored. It is on my c:\program files\lavasoft\ad-aware. I extracted the contents there yet the file still will not open. I'm stuck. Help! 2007 System error 1814?? Discussion in 'Software' started by moni_mouse, Oct 11, 2007. moni_mouse Private E-2 I keep getting a system error-- Description 'Could not login to service. Are you running this application http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/adaware-2007-system-error-1814.140402/ as another user? Application terminates.' I'm NOT using it as another user, as I am the ONLY user--I don't even have a gues account set up. I did an add/remove program uninstall but wound up having to use Windows Install cleanup as I got an error msg on uninstall as well... This particular error is on the reinstalled version. Please advise as I got PARTWAY thru a scan last night and saw that ad-aware system I have quite a bit (60+ at about 2/3 complete) of malware. Thanks in advance ~M moni_mouse, Oct 11, 2007 #1 moni_mouse Private E-2 Kestrel13! said: ↑ I think that you ought to go into the Malware section to make a post, personally. If AdAware was finding instances of "baddies" then that would be my first stop and primary concern, who knows...that error could be something to do with the Malware? Make a ad-aware system error new post here Up to you, it's where i'd be headed right now, if I was in your shoes. Best of Luck to you Emms :waveClick to expand... Thanks hon But I need to resolve the problem with Adaware before I can do much about the baddies. Well--I mean I could use a different program, but other than this issue I really like adaware... moni_mouse, Oct 11, 2007 #2 dyamond Imelda Marcos of Majorgeeks According to Lavasoft, this is their remedy for the 1814 error: To solve the problem you experienced, you will need to remove a possibly corrupt settings file for Ad-Aware 2007.
