Scanner Error 5001/5002 Started by Vanguard , Jun 23 2007 01:54 AM Please log in to reply 2 replies to this topic #1 Vanguard Vanguard Newbie Members 2 posts Posted 23 June 2007 - 01:54 AM I just downloaded & installed AdAware 7.0.1.11. But when I tried to run a scan, either the Smart Scan or the Full Scan, I received the following error message: Scanner Error: 5001 has occurred. Description: can't start SmartScan, scanner is busy. And error 5002 when trying full scan. I'm running Win XP, Media Edition on a fairly new HP desktop with tons of memory & 2 big HDs. I downloaded using Firefox. Anyone have any suggestions? Ad-aware 2007 An Error Occurred Started by bmphill , Oct 14 2007 07:57 PM Please log in to reply 2 replies to this topic #1 bmphill bmphill Newbie Members 2 posts Posted 14 October 2007 - 07:57 PM I am running Windows 2000 Professional. Every time I start Ad-Aware 2007 from the quick launch bar I get this message: Core Engine Core Engine Busy Suggested Action 0 Then I click OK and get either a Scanner Error 5001 or Scanner Error 5002 when starting a smart scan or full scan accompanied by the message: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?/topic/10336-scanner-error-50015002/ Description:Can't start smart scan or full scan, scanner is busy! I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software 3 times and this has not changed anything. How do I resolve this issue? Edited by bmphill, 14 October 2007 - 08:03 PM. You are trying to start a scan whilst the program is still checking for updates, hence the "busy" message. You could try de-selecting the above option and instead, on the same Settings tab, choose "Update Definitions before scanning" - please let us know if that solves this particular problem. Alternatively, wait a while after opening AAW 2007 before trying to start a scan, should you wish to retain the "Update at Startup" option.
