Update error - Connection failed, check your settings? by Jona on March 28th, 2011. We are currently having some problems with the updates for an older version of Ad-Aware. If you cannot update and are using Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition you should uninstall, download the latest version (9.0.2 or later) and reinstall Ad-Aware. You can un-install the program, by going to:Start -> Programs -> Lavasoft -> Ad-Aware -> and click on Uninstall Ad-AwareReboot your computer. Then download the software again, re-install it, and register it again. You can download Ad-Aware from here. We apologize for the inconvenience.

However, I HIGHLY recommend that everyone updates to the 9.0 version. With the speed at which the malware industry changes, you need to keep your technology up to date to ensure your protection. If you are using an old version you are not as protected as you should be, so once again, I highly recommend you get the latest version. Many users with this issue I have 4 machines all running Vista with Adaware AE upgraded from 2008... One of them will not update (the one I upgraded today...) other 3 work fine. I can ping the update server just fine and updates run well with Admin rights UAC promt yes, when run via start menu... No baddies present. Running adaware AE with latest patches and def files along with AVAST AV fully up to date. Many other posts to this effect in this forum and others on the net. Admins, what is the status, is this acknowledged as a bug and when should we see a fix? In the interim update from the option in the start menu as this works...
