Updated 07/20/2012 12:12 AM The SCSI Controller shows the following error message during system boot when a tape drive is attached: Host Adapter Configuration Error How can this issue http://ask.adaptec.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11116/~/controller-b-at-slot-02,-02%3A0a%3A01-scsi-controller-configuration-error%3A-02. be resolved? This applies to the following Operating System(s): - This information is not operating system specific When a "Host Adapter Configuration Error" message occurs after a tape drive has been attached to the controller, start by looking closely at the device to determine what type of interface it is using (do not assume). This is a http://ask.adaptec.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2348/~/host-adapter-configuration-error-with-tape-drive-attached generic message from the controller indicating that the controller doesn't support the device attached. We are using the Quantum DLT 8000 series tape unit as an example of where the root of the problem is, and why this message is being displayed. The Quantum DLT 8000 series tape unit comes with different interface styles, LVD (Low Voltage Differential) or HVD (High Voltage Differential). These two interfaces styles are mutually exclusive and cannot co-exist on the same SCSI Bus. If cable detection fails, this will look like an overterminated configuration to the card. -- adaptec scsi Justin To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe freebsd-scsi" in the body of the message Thread at a glance: Previous Message by Date: Adaptec 19160 SCSI controller configuration error: 02 This might be OT, because I haven't even found the HD's yet, so I haven't installed FreeBSD on it. I'm building a new machine with an Adaptec 19160 scsi controller. When I boot without cables, I get no errors. When I adaptec scsi card boot with the 68-wire cable with terminator in the end, I get the message Scsi controller configuration error: 02 (Both with and without disks) Note, it is not "Adaptec SCSI controller errorcode 02", men "SCSI controller configuration error: 02" This message is not found either on google or adaptec's site.
