my Windows 7 (64 bit) computer. The splash screen appears but then it just stops working (usually on initializing Tools). It then asks to exit or search for help.I have read several things so far. To fix it I tried:- disabling the TWAIN plugin- resetting all tools- deleting the Photoshop preferences file.- deleting my printer from the control panel (some others said printer drivers could cause it)But all of these photoshop won't launch did not help. Please let me know how I could fix this. It is not nice having a deadline and not being able to guarantee Photoshop will work. The obvious thing to do is to run as admin to avoid permission issues. The behavior you describe very much sounds like it cannot access some stuff or not create its temporary file. You might use a tool like Sysinternals Process Monitor to wacth file and registry access to verify that. Another pote

I've tried putting a ~ in front of the twian device, as suggested on another site. I've tried running licence recovery as suggested in other places. All of these things seem to work temporarily, http://superuser.com/questions/217326/photoshop-cs3-freezes-upon-open-in-windows-7-pro-64bit and then photoshop goes back to freezing when I try to open it again. I used to be able to re-run the licence recovery and that would fix it for a while, but now that doesn't even work. I have tried reinstalling. The install runs flawlessly. (It's an install of Adobe Creative Suite Extended CS3). Nothing seems to work. The splash screen comes up, it runs through initialization, and then just opens to a blank screen with a blank grey area over each of the tool boxes. The entire system slows down to a crawl - it takes about 2 minutes for even so much as a right click to work. I can click on the X to close photoshop, but it takes about 3 minutes to respond. Killing it through task manager takes even longer. Help! Imageready is really stable, but I need to use Channels and the Pen tool so it just won't do. I've tried deleting all prefs, that doesn't help. Does anyone know what I should do? I've tried reinstalling, but no luck. I'm pretty new to this kind of site and forum and in desperate need of help... I edit images in Photoshop CS3, until last night every function performed beautifully... Here is my problem, step by step: I launch Photoshop CS3 successfully I click "File" I then click "Open" The open windows pops up for a sec but then immediately closes! I don't even have time to see my files in the window, and of course to select anything!) The Photoshop CS3 title bar then "mutes" and I can't make it active again and just have to shut down Photoshop and restart it again. The weird thing is that the other commands (New, Browse, etc.) work properly! I'm a graphist designer and I'm used to work with Photoshop a lot, so this is a very serious issue for me. If there's anyone out there who can keep me from becoming really crazy with this issue, I would really appreciate. Thanks.
