a minute: Sign up error with web service: There is an error in XML document up vote 0 down vote favorite 1 I received a web service which provides a wsdl, and when I test it in SoapUI it runs fine and returns the data back, but when I add the WSDL file as web service in Visual studio and then test there was an error generating the xml document c# it, it throws the error below. After looking in the inner exception saw this: System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format. at System.Number.StringToNumber(String str, NumberStyles options, NumberBuffe r& number, NumberFormatInfo info, Boolean parseDecimal) In Visual Studio's reference.cs file I saw that the company property is delcared as type string but it contains XmlElementAttribute which I think converts it to integer. I changed the data type from string to integer but it still did not work. I can't debug the code as I have only the wsdl file in my dev machine and the web service provided to me is not accessible from outside the client's network. What should I do to solve this? Code from Reference.cs [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute(DataType="integer")] public string Company { get { return this.companyField; } set { this.companyField = value; } } Error Message: There is an error in XML document (1, 491). I use the "Add a Web Reference" wizard to read a WSDL file, then I simply call the method for the remote service. I get the floowing error returned when I make the call.: There is an error in XML document (1,454) The source of the error is System.Xml an error How do I know what xml it is referring to, the request it is trying to build or the responce coming back. I suspect the problem is the soap message coming back from the server, but have no way of knowing for sure. Also, it seems that there must be a lot that goes on to de-serialize the XML file that is returned from a web there is an service. Isn't there anyway to get any closer to the returning file to see the xml or see what it is exactly that is triggering an error?
