If there's a conflict, it's possible that they'll cancel each other out. Also it might be worth disabling your NIC and then trying to access the Net again through dialing. Assuming that it loads, you'll know that it's a problem to do with your default dial-up. You ca also try reseting the connection to use the default gateway if this isn't already the caseSounds to me like your NIC could be having trouble though! This includes checking security settings (enable/disable/configure WEP as needed), add your MAC address to your AP's access list, if necessary, and make sure your SSID is correct (capitalization *does* matter). __________________ Techware Labs p14nd4.com TheLittleMan.net Omega View Public Profile Send a private message to Omega Visit Omega's homepage! SP1. This is a fairly new installation and everything was working. I wanted to share some files, so I right- clicked on the folder I wanted to share and chose Network Sharing. I went through the Network Setup Wizard. All of this worked. However, I noticed that when the wizard configured network sharing, it setup a Network Bridge b/n the Ethernet and Token Ring adapters in the system w/o asking me if I wanted to setup a Bridge. I proceeded to delete the Network Bridge. After deleting the bridge, I still have network connectity. I can ping systems, do nslookups, and access the web. However, ipconfig doesn't work now. It returns: C:\Documents and Settings\ohsu>ipconfig Windows IP Configuration An internal error occurred: A device attached to the system is not functioning. Like I mentioned previously, I can still ping, do name resolution, and access web pages. When I go through the GUI (Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connection, the status says Connected. It seems like it is only ipconfig that doesn't work. Oliver, Oct 21, 2003 #1 Advertisements Rakesh Chanana [MSFT] Guest Try one (or all of these): 1. Check the properties of each NIC to make sure that a weird IP address (such as 0.0.0.0) has not been assigned to one of the NICs. Make sure to also look under Advanced and not just the first page of TCP/IP properties. If so, delete that IP address. 2. If you installed another software or service or driver before the problem, try system restore to the state prior to that 3. Check to see if "Incoming connections" is enabled. If so, disable that and try again. ---- Thanks, Rakesh Chanana [MSFT] When replying, please post to GROUP so that everyone can benefit from the knowledge. This posting is provided "AS I
