I have the junit-4.7.jar in my build path and the test application. Here is a simple example that illustrates my problem package test; import org.junit.Before; import org.junit.Test; public class UTest { @Test public void test() { } @Before public void setUp() throws Exception { } } This compiles fine Then I do "Run JUnit Test case" from Eclipse and I get an error dialog with this message "Launching UTest' has encountered a problem An internal error occurred during: "Launching UTest". java.lang.NullPointerException What causes these NullPointerExceptions? What am I doing wrong? java eclipse junit share|improve this question edited Nov 16 '14 at 19:38 Eric Leschinski 45.9k23219189 asked Aug 9 '09 at 3:28 Mike 15.4k49135177 add a comment| 10 Answers 10 active oldest votes up vote 28 down vote What worked for me after trying everything: Go to help Install New Software Work with: Juno Programming languages (expand it) Install Java Development Tools Restart It works :) share|improve this answer answered Oct 22 '14 at 21:31 Joaquin De La Sierra 40646 1 Thank you very much! This worked for me, too! –Sam Oct 24 '14 at 10:37 4 The name of the package I had to install was Eclipse Java Development Tools rather than just Java Development Tools. –Sam Oct 24 '14 at 10:49 @Sam What will be the update url? I am already having Juno with ADT 23.0.2. –devo Nov 2 '14 at 4:18 @devo, mine is download.eclipse.org/releases/juno. –Sam Nov 3 '14 at 11:07 @devo The update site already comes with Eclipse itself. Just open up the drop-down menu and you'll find it. –JI Xiang Dec 3 '14 at 14:51 | show 3 more comments up vote 3 down vote This worked for me: create another copy of the test class (CopyOfUTest.java) run the copy to make sure it passes go into Run > Run Co

When I attempt to run/debug the tests using Run As -> JUnit tests, I receive an error that states : An internal error occurred during: "Launching HelloJUnit". java.lang.NullPointerException The HelloJUnit is just a sample test that I was working on in a training. I have tried to include the different versions/settings that I could find in Eclipse that might help someone figure out if I don't have something configured properly.

Description heed5k 2006-07-18 16:00:40 EDT I get the following error when trying to run any JUnit tests (JUnit 4.1).
