JJMR Jun 17, 2013 4:20 AM Hi everyone,I have a number of active VMWare ESXi 5 hosts that I manage but beginning yesterday I am experiencing the error above. On a new server, I have installed ESXi 5 successfully and I can connect to the host from my vSphere Client. However as soon as I try to create a new VM, the error message pops up. (Please see screenshot attached)I subsequently tried connecting to my existing ESXi 5 hosts and experienced the same error when trying to perform the same operation. Any advice on how to resolve this issue?? I've tried re-installing the client on my machine with no success. However I can perform all the same operations successfully from another spare machine I have on the network.vSphere Client: Version 5.1.0 Build 786111(I am in the process of downloading the newer version as we speak) ESXi.png 128.2 K 3133Views Tags: none (add) vmwareContent tagged with vmware, 5Content tagged with 5, clientContent tagged with client, errorContent tagged with error, esxiContent tagged with esxi, vsphereContent tagged with vsphere This content has been marked as final. Did the new client download help? Like Show 0 Likes (0) Actions 3. Re: An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client. Details: Index was outside the bounds of the array. Lesslhumer 4. November 2015 1 Troubleshooting The installation fails and you see an internal error 28173 when you install vCenter 5.5 or vSphere Client 5.5? To resolve just install .NET Framework 3.5 - this is a Minimum requirement for vCenter 5.x and vSphere Client 5.x. How to install the .NET Framework 3.5: open the Windows control panel select "Turn Windows Features On or Off" click 4x "next" button in the wizzard select the https://communities.vmware.com/thread/449339?start=0&tstart=0 .NET Framework 3.5 Features Checkbox click "next" if necessary provide a source for the installation files When the installation of .NET Framework 3.5 has successfully finished try the vSphere Client or vSphere vCenter installation again. Now it should work without any 28173 errors. I am sorry to post something technical in my very first post but would really appreciate some an internal help with a burning issue. I have copied my post from the VMware communities forum (who have not been very helpful I'm afraid). In an attempt to introduce myself to VMware virtualisation I have recently installed ESXi 5.1 on an HP N40L microserver with 8GB RAM however have run into problems when creating my first VM. I am uisng the vSphere client downloaded onto my Windows 7 64 bit laptop from the link an internal error found in the page when pointing my browser to the hosts IP address. I have tried numerous fixes outlined in the KB’s and other sites to no avail. I would greatly appreciate all and any assistance. I can create a new VM but get the error “An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client. Details: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.” when I click on the new VM in the inventory in the left column. I can power on the newly created VM but if I right click the VM to open console I get the following error: “An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client. Details: The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found”. If I press close I then immediately get the dialogue “An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client. Details: Object reference not set to an instance of an object”. I have uninstalled and reinstalled .net framework 4, uninstalled and reinstalled the vSphere client several times, rebooted machine in between. I have also set the Data Execution Prevention to always off as suggested by some users (bcdedit.exe from CLI) but nothing is working for me. My machine is healthy, no malware, Windows is all up to date and using Microsoft Security Essentials
