Does it happens consistently with all files, or a particular file? Are there any graphics on Master or Reference pages? Art Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Although the most likely join from time to time. What do you mean by "writing imported graphics"? Do you import graphics as By Reference or Copy into Document? You should choose the first, since this means a reference to an external image/graphic meaning this file cannot be deleted if your FM doc gets scrambled. Of course you can delete the image directly from the Explorer, but that is entirely up to you. Image imported as Copy into Document becomes part of the document. T
am now ready to save it. When I attempt to do so, I get the following message, "An internal error occurred while writing imported graphics in this document. The file has been saved, but some image data has been lost." Well, the file is nowhere to be found and the document is still open and unsaved. Can you help?? AnswerSusan You didn't mention what version of Framemaker and Windows you are running - but the following link on Adobes Website should give you some help: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407701.html The only other thing I can suggest is to type the following into Google or https://forums.adobe.com/thread/315581 your favorite search engine and enter the following "An internal error occurred while writing imported graphics in this document," there will be a good number of hits you can search. All the way from "importing" the graphics by refernce to installing XP SP3. But one of the answers should solve your problem. [ date ] [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] I just wanted to amplify on a couple of things Art said http://www.frameusers.com/archives/framers/2011-August/023771.html in his reply. First, it is generally a bad idea to use OLE linking even for applications and file formats that are officially supported (which does not include Visio). Yes, there are some people who have been using it successfully. But when it breaks, it leaves you with little recourse because there is no separate source file for the embedded an internal object. Second, using the import by reference method that Art recommends (and which the majority of FrameMaker users utilize) gives you the advantage of not having to re-import the figure if/when you change it. As long as the revised figure has the same name and is located in the same directory relative to the FM file, the image in the an internal error Frame file will update automatically when the source file is updated. If the size was changed in the update, you may have to tweak the object properties a bit, but that's the only gotcha. Third, even if you choose not to use the import by reference method, you'd still be well advised to use something other than a raster image file format ("device independent bitmap", TIFF, GIF, PNG, etc.) for the graphic. If you use a vector graphic format (WMF, EMF, PS, PDF) you should get much better results because you are dealing with a fully scalable graphic rather than a fixed-resolution image. But if you *must* use a raster (bitmap) format for some reason, avoid JPG for anything other than *photographic* images; because it is a lossy format that uses an area-based image compression algorithm, it inherently degrades line art or any figure that includes text characters. -Fred Ridder > From: art.campbell at gmail.com > Date: Thu, 11 Aug 2011 09:32:22 -0400 > Subject: Re: Error when importing Visio objects to FM 7.2 > To: vidiraj at ya
