That is no longer helping for me. I've just restarted, firewall is off, and I still can't get Messages to launch. where some app does not work properly. On the first Preview version of Mac PS X Yosemite one of the issues that I had is https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4146766?start=15&tstart=0 that the FaceTime and Messages app simply don’t start, they crash on launch displaying similar error messages. I finally found the source of the issue here, the problem is related to the Contacts list, http://acarlos.net/post/88649104298/how-to-fix-mac-os-x-yosemite-1010-messages-crash if you open the Contacts app and disable your iCloud Contacts and then relaunch the Messages or FaceTime app it will finally work this time. Anyway, this makes Messages kinda hard to use, because now you can only see the list of your conversations with a list of phone numbers. Well let’s hope for Yosemite Beta 2 to fix this annoyance.
