No luck? Try a full format. This takes a lot longer, but at least you will be sure no trash is clluttering things up. You would be surprised at what a supposed 'new' drive may have on it. I would guess that the new drive had a 2nd partiion and you may have (mistakenly) begun installation on this much smaller drive space.
