There have been several reports suggesting that distribution lists don't import/export very good. I'd suggest remaking them. EMG 1 Comment Issue:Customer reported “Internal support function returned an error sending to Distribution list” Resolution: There is a duplicate, one-off contact in the DL, containing the Internet address for a member of the Microsoft Exchange Server Global Address List https://emg.johnshopkins.edu/?p=311 (GAL). Do not use the identical display name for one-off contacts in a DL that https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/933346-internal-support-function-returned-an-error-when-sending-email-to-group also have Internet entries in the GAL. Customer is advised to re-create the distribution list in Outlook Post navigation Previous PostSharing a calendar in Outlook Web App 2010Next PostRecovering from an Exchange 2007 CCR “Split Brain” Situation One thought on “Internal support function returned an error sending to Distribution list” IT support Dallas says: June 5, 2016 at an internal 9:01 am Every time I come to another interesting #hostname posted. Join Now exchange 2013, using public folders as an address book. one group in that address book has external email accounts, and pretty much everyone in the company's email address also. sending to individuals in the address book works fine every time, but selecting the group with all the users in it seems to fail at least 50% of the time with the "internal support function" error. I did find reference to this error in outlook 2000, where "there is a duplicate, one-off contact in the DL, containing the Internet address for a member of the Microsoft Exchange Server Global Address List (GAL)." only issue is that I was able to eventually send the email, if the above was the case it should fail every time, right?
