Solved Symantec Ghost Error 36000 Internal Inconsistency detected Posted on 2009-09-03 Hardware 1 Verified Solution 2 Comments 7,794 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-07 I'm trying to load an image onto a https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH109514.html Seagate 1gb HD, the image is very small, we've used it many times before. We're using Symantec 8.0 for PCDOS. I've run a killdisk utility on the drive to completely wipe it. It begins to install the image and will stop at different points each time giving the same error: "Internal Error 36000 An internal inconsistency has been detected" I've tried running the Ghost.exe with the -ws- -wd- flags, https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24705332/Symantec-Ghost-Error-36000-Internal-Inconsistency-detected.html this has not resolved the issue. Anyone have any other ideas? This is a very old machine, so please dont suggest using a newer version of ghost. 0 Question by:Sappbrosts Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 76 Active today Best Solution byAlan Hardisty Not sure if this is relevant to your version of Ghost - but worth a read. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ghost.nsf/f622fe1b00b168bc882570dc007a01d2/06df7b028e074efa08256831007a9b1f?OpenDocument Go to Solution 2 Comments LVL 7 Overall: Level 7 Hardware 1 Message Author Comment by:Sappbrosts2009-09-03 oh, and...the image file is on an IDE hard drive, we're loading the image onto a SCSI hard drive 0 LVL 76 Overall: Level 76 Hardware 3 Message Active today Accepted Solution by:Alan Hardisty2009-09-03 Not sure if this is relevant to your version of Ghost - but worth a read. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ghost.nsf/f622fe1b00b168bc882570dc007a01d2/06df7b028e074efa08256831007a9b1f?OpenDocument 0 Write Comment First Name Please enter a first name Last Name Please enter a last name Email We will never share this with anyone. When the ghost menu appears and i select disk to image i get an "internal error 36000 .An internal inconsistency has been detected " Any ideas ? thanks 0 Question by:c_hockland Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 63 Best Solution bySysExpert As I mentioned, the version of Ghost you are using is designed for Desktops, not Servers. There used to be a version just for servers, but Symantec discontinued it. This is from the properties - tools of each partition in windows. 2) Check that your network share is working before doing Ghost. Copy a test file to the networked drive. I hope this helps ! 0 Message Author Comment by:c_hockland2007-01-08 i will run the consistency check but in terms of a share it doesnt even go to that screen. Also i will try to create a standard boot disk , save the imgage localy and then burn it on a dvd. I will let u now how it works. Give me a few mins to try out. 0 LVL 63 Overall: Level 63 Storage Software 20 Hardware 17 Message Expert Comment by:SysExpert2007-01-08 Is this a server using RAID or a special controller ? That could also be an issue. 0 Message Author Comment by:c_hockland2007-01-08 it is a Dell 1850 with a perc 4si and the disks are raid 1 (mirror ) 0 Message Author Comment by:c_hockland2007-01-08 when i tried to run a image from disk the menus come up with no errors. And this is a boot disk with out tcp/ip . It is a local boot disk. So i am more convinced that this is a raid issue. How can i ov

This of course is not an option because i tried it yesterday and it took it like 8 hours to finally tell me there is not enough free space on a 30GB free external drive to put an image compressed in HIGH that by itself it's just above 36GB? so... i need to image only the C: partition and not all the disk sector-by-sector.
