up [H]ard|Forum Forums > Bits & Bytes > Operating Systems > Unable to install Win2k Discussion in 'Operating Systems' started by HereComeTheBugs, Jul 11, 2004. Jul 11, 2004 #1 HereComeTheBugs Limp Gawd Messages: 466 Joined: Aug 28, 2001 I purchased an STAT controller to install an extra serial ATA drive that I have in my old computer... the problem is every time I try to specify a raid or scsi driver when I boot from the Windows 2000 CD I get an error saying. An unexpected error (0) occurred at line 962 in D:\nt\private\ntos\boot\setup\oemdisk.c. press any key to continue what the heck does that mean... It gives me that error before it even tries to access the driver on the floppy -- The error pops up when I hit S to specify the driver (the floppy never lights up. I also tried doing it without the floppy connected). Does Win2k use a ram disk to load the files? I ran memtest86 to make sure that my RAM was ok... My RAM looks fine. It run for about 8 hours while I was sleeping (It made 11 passes with no errors). I've also tried using my brothers Win2k CD, but I still get the same error. Any ideas??? Adaptec* 3410/3210/2110 Fails Windows 2000 installation Problem: Adaptec-3410s, 3210s, or 2110s cards in C3 or D2, connects the RAID card to the HSBP, and has at least one drive in HSBP (and no IDE drives in the system). RAID card sees the drives and configures array fine. Windows 2000 installation: press F6, select S to load additional SCSI adapter driver and this error message appears: An unexpected error (0) occurred at line 962 in F:\nt\private\ntos\boot\s
Intel Server, that has three 120GB SATA drives connected in Raid 5. The controller is a Promise Fasttrak. THE SERVER DID NOT COME WITH A FLOPPY DRIVE. Problem is... when installing Win2K, I press F6 during the initial setup to install drivers for the controller card, I then press "S" and get the following error message: An unexpected error (0) occurred at line 962 in D:\nt\private\ntos\boot\setup\oemdisk.c. Not sure if this is because I don't have a floppy drive https://hardforum.com/threads/unable-to-install-win2k.776020/ connected to the server? Please help. I am desperate to get this server up and running. , May 16, 2006 #1 Advertisements Pegasus \(MVP\) Guest <> wrote in message news:... > I have recently purchased an Intel Server, that has three 120GB SATA > drives connected in Raid 5. Buy one or steal one from another machine! Pegasus \(MVP\), May 16, 2006 #2 Advertisements Dave Patrick Guest If your drive controller isn't natively supported then you'll need to temp connect a floppy drive or look at doing an unattended installation. http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/Library/3983c4a4-e6ff-4664-8425-28ec740474b11033.mspx http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/Library/e0ce9352-2542-43f6-b03c-e928917d0b3f1033.mspx -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup.
