It appears to cause a problem with Symantec Endpoint Protection V11 MR5. MR4 was not such a problem on Vista, but only MR5 will run on Windows 7. I have opened cases with both Intuit and Symantec. Symantec says it is an Intuit problem (I agree) and Intuit is living in complete denial. There is no fix for this at this point. I suggest you open a case with Intuit and add your voice that the error needs to be fix

I have a Lenovo X220 purchased in May 2011, so just out of warranty... Intel Core i5-2520M (2.5GHz), 4GB ram in one DIMM. I would catagorize myself as a business power user, no gaming at all... I'll have Quickbooks, Excel, Firefox with 20 tabs, explorer, Outlook and maybe Photoshop all running simultaneously and all was well up until about three to five months ago when I first noticed programs hanging more frequently with "not responding" messages. It's now to the point where it's really effecting productivity. I run Office 2003. I've tried being extra careful with this machine, no unsavory ramdom surfing, etc. Where do I begin debugging this issue? Thank you!! It helps organizations manage their money, pay their employees, and pay their bills. But QuickBooks is also a fairly complex application. This complexity means that QuickBooks is prone to having problems. I do a lot of work on QuickBooks and have gathered some of the common issues I deal with almost daily. These tips may help you solve those issues before you lose your hair or your money. Note: This article is also available as a PDF download. 1: Updating the data file fails This can be very tricky. When you are upgrading QuickBooks from one version to the next, sometimes the earlier version's data file can't be read by the newer version. Because of this, the data file must be updated. Usually this will happen during the installation process and will require you make a backup first. However, to avoid any issues with the data file, make sure you run a verification on that file before you uninstall the old version or install the new version. Better yet, install the new version side by side with the old version so you will always
