RE: User getting error when trying to connect to host using pcAnywhere 11 iviguy (TechnicalUser) 14 Oct 04 17:31 Hey,We use pcAnywhere 11 extensively as a primary means of support and I can tell you that this issue drives us all nuts.I have contacted Symantec many times and the absolute best they could do was give me unhelpful suggestions because they wouldn't be manageable anyway. You may be able to resolve it though if both systems are setup with Version 11.I think our main issue here is that our customers are all on v10.0 and we are on 11.I don't think the problem exists with a v11 remote going into a v11 host.Hope this helps. DNS HIjack/Rootkit Started by omnics , Oct 20 2010 09:18 AM Please log in to reply 5 replies to this topic #1 omnics omnics Members 4 posts OFFLINE Local time:04:02 AM Posted 20 October 2010 - 09:18 AM Hey guys, I am trying to clean up a computer for a client of mine. Machine is XP SP3. He had one of the fake AV viruses that an employee removed with superantispyware, and called me because interent was still not working. I ran Malwarebytes which cleaned remnants of fake AV and various adware infections. The only residual obvious symptom is that when you reboot the computer, the DNS server addresses are blank, so no name resolution is possible. Connection works otherwise. Computer uses static IP and DNS. I was not familiar with your process, and ran Combofix. Combofix said it detected Rootkit activity. Still having DNS issue with this machine. After reading your processes and joining I ran requested scans. GMER was the only one that would not work. It would run for @ 40 minutes and then the machine would freeze completely showing desktop, so I was unable to see where GMER froze. Hopefully you guys can give me a hand despite my not following steps properly. Here are DDS reports: Thanks Pete DDS (Ver_10-
