I was with a tech for over 30 minutes. best android text message app I have a Samsung s3. I have ran an antivirus and nothing. Re-booted with taking the battery out and with leaving the battery in. After doing several hours of investigation, I came across a record of the 1-800 phone number listed in the message. It's a number on Verizon's network, but the owner of record is not listed. From what all I have found out, its a link to some sort of virus that people have claimed that their bank accounts have been drained when calling it. I did a "hard" reset of my phone and then restored it back to factory default. Needless to say I haven't received that message in the last 24 hrs or so. I am on a GS3 and have been since right after they came out. It's been the best phone I have owned since my old HTC Droid Incredible. I wish verizon would actually investigate this more in depth and come up with a solution to end this before alot of their customers lose more faith in big red. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 4. Under message details, the Cause code is "Addr.Vcnt.,0". When the phone is in this failure mode, SMS are not received. The first two times this happened Verizon tech support checked the network and found no problems. The conclusion was that the problem is in the unit. Removing and reonstalling the battery has no effect. When a factory reset is performed, the SMS functions normally again for some time period. The first functional period was about a week, then a few days, then one day. It was noted that while the SMS was functional, if the unit was powered down and up again, the SMS no longer functioned. Finally, the factory reset did not correct the problem at all and Verizon is replacing the phone. This failure occured 1) With or without the SIM installed, 2) With or without the SD installed, 3) With or without downloaded applications installed. Also, once failed, uninstalling all of the downloaded applications had no effect. Initially I thought the problem was cause by a specific application, so I did extensive testing trying to isolate the application. My conclusion was that the actual failure was not application specific. Please note that this problem has been reported on numerous Android boards as well as on the Verizon support board. It is clearly not specific to my phone. Further, it has been noted in other manufacturers' phones and on other services. However, Verizon does not have this listed as a known problem. I don't know the mechanics of getting on a known problem list, but, IMHO, this certainly is a recurring Android problem. May 20, 2011 #2 Astarot...@gmail.com I was receiving this same error. What fixed it was switching my phone to GSM mode, then back to CDMA mode. You can also try reprogramming your phone by dialing *228 and selecting option 1 if you lose the ability to text for any reason.
