Anti Theft .bmp Error

Do you know what I can do or if I can disable that functionality? I bought my Tomtom in Canada, then I moved to UK and I bought the maps for Western Europe. I plugged my tomtom while still being in UK and next time when I was in the car rental office in Italy: OH SURPRISE WHEN I GOT THE MESSAGE THAT THE DEVICE IS LOCKED!!!! Okay, at that time I had to rent the GPS (SAT NAV) from the rental office... As soon as I came back to UK, I plugged the device to my laptop and it unlockced itself. Two months later I rent another car, I use the GPS from here to Oxford, parked the car and 5 hours later, when I came back to continue my trip, the device was again locked!!!!! This time I was in the middle of the road. Thanks God, I had my Cell Phone, but that wasn't the ideal situation... Could I get any advice on what to do if that happens again? On the spot? I do not want to carry my laptop only to use my TomTom. I love it. I think the GPS saved my marriage , but I am about to throw it out the window if it keeps leaving me hanging there in the middle of Europe!!! Any idea is greatly appreciated. I would suggest that you reinstall the application software in your gps and see if that solves the problem. Here are the steps for doing that. First: make a backup of the contents of the gps using windows explorer. regular computer which I've been using to update GPS quick fix and map share files died, so I installed Tom Tom Home on another computer (XP Home, same as dead computer). I connected my XL340S and it said I needed to update the application, quickfix GPS and mapshare files. I clicked ok. Then... error wriing F;\antitheft.bmp So no other files could be uploaded. I disconnected Tom Tom, closed the Home program, restarted the computer and tried again. This time... "can not create F:\data.chk" Disconnected and reconnected Tom Tom again. The tech was very patient and very friendly and instructed me to basically do the same thing. Since the computer I had originally done a Tom Tom backup on had recently died, he had me copy over the Loquendo (?) file and the map file, format the Tom Tom and copy those files back to the Tom Tom. Copying over those files took a bit of time and the rep was patient in waiting for them to copy over. He then told me how to format the Tom Tom and copy the files back to it. He also looked up my warranty info and told me if that didn't solve the problem they would replace my device. Fortunately the fix worked and all is well again.
