App-v Error 10b

Invalid" is fairly simple to fix, but why does it come up specifically on software that seems like it should be super simple to sequence? And how do we prevent it in future packges? Let's dive in and put it under the microscope. Evidence of The Error First let's discuss what you'll see on the screen and in your logs verify that this is the problem you might be having. We are going to use the example of the freeware version of Tree DB Notes. It is designed to be installed in a "Portable" mode - which allows it to run out of a folder with no registry entries or other Windows integration requirements - so you'd think it would sequence like a dream! Welcome to the real world. The error that presents on the screen is: The Application Virtualization Client could not launch TreeDBNotes 4 4.2.5.2 The directory name is invalid. Error code: 4615186-1F701639-0000010B In sftlog.txt ("Information" logging level) you'll find something similar to: [06/11/2012 16:05:13:521 SWAP ERR] {hap=1B:app=TreeDBNotes 4 4.2.5.2:tid=2F5C:usr=sanoyd} The client could not launch Q:\TREEDBNT.001\TreeDBNotes.exe (rc 1F701639-0000010B, last error 0). If you've been working with App-V for a while your first hunch may be to use "sfttray.exe /launch" to start a cmd.exe prompt and look to see if the EXE is available at the path location you sequenced it to ("Q:\APPFOLDER.001\AppName.exe" in our sample error). Unfortunately attempting to launch with an alternate EXE results in the same error message! The error prevents any EXE from starting in the bubble. Using the sequencer to open the package reveals that the EXE is right there where you expect it to be and that it is properly ref

Background The packages published to the user, initiating this Sync operation are downloaded on the App-V client machine. This operation can be manual or at every user logon or executed periodically. Citrix XenDesktop 7.0, as part of App-V integration, uses PowerShell cmdlet of App-V http://csi-windows.com/blog/all/70-under-the-microscope/351-app-v-error-4615186-1f701639-0000010b-directory-name-is-invalid client to download the App-V packages and then start App-V 5.0 virtual applications in these packages using Citrix infrastructure. Citrix component (CtxAppVLauncher.exe) checks for the availability of the package (containing application being launched) on the Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) machine. If the package is not synced, the CtxAppVLauncher.exe calls PowerShell cmdlet provided of App-V client to sync/download the given package. The App-V Publishing Server settings http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX138056 on App-V client control the package sync to occur either during User Logon (LogonRefresh) or periodically (IntervalRefresh). See App-V 5.0 documentation for more details on these settings. If the package is not available on the machine, the CtxAppVLauncher.exe issues a Sync command on behalf of the launching user on the end-client machine. Note: The Sync operation issued by CtxAppVLauncher.exe might fail if LogonRefresh or IntervalRefresh occurs simultaneously on the background. During such a failure, the CtxAppVLauncher.exe shows the following error: Error: "Cannot start Mozilla Firefox: App-V server sync failed" This error is observed when the user attempts to start an application (App-V) on a VDA machine, where App-V packages are not synced earlier. Application launch might fail with the preceding error. Solution Restart the application from Citrix Receiver after a while. Sync operations issued by App-V client typically complete in couple of minutes. Hence, application launch is successful after a while of the error message. If the problem persists, see App-V 5.0 Troubleshooting Guide or contact your App-V Administrator. consists of Squeezecenter running on an Intel iMac and four squeezebox duet devices. It seemed to work the first day, but now everytime I try to listen to a 'listen again' program with AlienBBC, it constantly rebuffers, and becomes unusable. The stream pauses every 20 seconds or so, and buffers for another 20 seconds. Also, I just tried listening to the live streams, and even though it seems to be connecting, I cannot hear anything on any of the players. Is there any way to fix this? I searched the forums, but others with this problem are using Windows or Vista and the solution seems technically specific to the operating system. Thanks in advance for your help. bpa2009-01-15, 13:42The sort of rebuffering is probably not due to BBC - in which case it is CPU or Network and in your case the Network should be tested. AlienBBC will use Flac by default between SC and player which needs about 1500kbps throughput. Are the all the players synced ? Can you run the network test and determine what is the max rate which can be sustained for at least 10 mins at 100%. lindburgh2009-01-15, 14:29I have four duet receivers that are all synchronized. The test shows 100% performance at 1500 kpbs. I no longer get a rebuffering problem on any AlienBBC content. Instead, it seems like the track is playing (time indicator shows time passing), but I don't hear anything. That is the case for both listen against and live streams. bpa2009-01-15, 14:40That symptom usually means a problem with mplayer either not installed properly. What version of AlienBBC and SC are you using ? lindburgh2009-01-15, 14:53SC Version: 7.3.1 - 24372 Alien BBC v2.4a4-7.3 bpa2009-01-15, 15:28In Settings/Plugins/AlienBBC - settings What does the "MPlayer status" indicate ? lindburgh2009-01-15, 16:29Is says: Installed bpa2009-01-15, 17:22It is strange that AlienBBC was working and then stops. Perhaps get a log to see what is happening. 1. Set player.source to INFO from WebUI Settings/Advanced/Loggin g and click apply. 2. Note Time and try a BBC "listen Again" stream. Wait at least 1 minute 3. Open the server.log (See Settings/Information) and copy log entries from noted time and add to a post. lindburgh2009-01-15, 18:13I started the stream at 20:05.
