2 I have been building and rebuilding an ASP.NET program. I made the horrible mistake, I think, of recently copying the published content back to the folder I was developing. So now I have an unusual error when I build the code. It says That there is a duplicate definition in one file in a temporary directory with anohter file in a temporary directory. Error 3 The type 'ChildEventHandler' exists in asp net decompiler both 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files...\b90cc7a4\28d266b\assembly\dl3\c4cf1ea3\b6e4b808_ef7cce01\App_Code.DLL' and 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files...\b90cc7a4\28d266b\App_Code.asx5jp5d.dll' C:\inetpub\wwwroot...\Resources\usercontrols....ascx.cs 11 18 C:......\ I removed project and file names, of course, but this is basically what the error says. Since the error is with temporary files, what should I do? I do not see a "clear" option in visual studio to clear out the files of a compile. c# asp.net visual-studio-2010 share|improve this question edited Jul 15 '13 at 9:48 Rahul 3,27951742 asked Jul 15 '13 at 9:48 xarzu 2,4221665103 2 just remove the temporary files from your system or delete your bin folder and build it again. –Rahul Jul 15 '13 at 9:52 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 5 down vote This problem I faced sometimes back while compiling. Please go to this folder c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files , and delete all teh files and folder under it. When you build an application which is not hosted under IIS temporary debug files and folder gets created under this folder. It may happen that you get an access denied error while deleting them. Please close your visual studio solution and delete everything under this folder. it will resolve the compilation error. share|improve this answer answered Jul 15 '13 at 10:24 Gayatri 22615 Somehow t

A little bit strange for me is, that i get this error message on my Windows 7 System and also on a Windows Server 2008 R2. While googling http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3738559/iis-manager-cant-configure-net-compilation-on-net-4-applications around a little bit all i found is this blog entry http://olegtarasov.me/2010/09/nastrojka-iis-7-5-i-asp-net-4/. I tried the aspnet_regiis -i -enable command but that was not the solution for me. web-config iis-7.5 share|improve this question asked Sep 17 '10 at 19:57 Noffls 3,03011525 1 what is the unrecognized element? –x0n Sep 17 '10 at 20:07 2 the unrecognized element is "folderLevelBuildProviders" –Noffls Sep 19 '10 at 15:39 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 62 down vote accepted Ok, i've got it. The Problem is, that my systems a 64 Bit systems and the aspnet_regiis i've called was the 32 Bit Version. After calling aspnet_regiis from the Framework64 Directory everything was fine. Thanks to Scott Hanselman http://www.hanselman.com/blog/ASPNET4BreakingChangesAndStuffToBeAwareOf.aspx share|improve this answer answered Sep 17 '10 at 20:09 Noffls 3,03011525 3 excellente... Thanks much. It took my a while to figure out what to do. But if you run into this problem. Open up a cmd prompt, navigate to the C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319 directory in the prompt and then run the above command. And viola, you can then access the .net compilation settings. –DmainEvent Feb 21 '13 at 13:13 2 Thanks for the link "aspnet_regiis -iru" did the trick for me.. –Scorpio
