This seems to have happened to many people, as in this thread at Google Groups. The common causes seem to be: 1) Adobe Shockwave (disable the add-on) 2) Google Desktop Search (uninstall it) 3) a conflict with Lotus Notes (???) If it's not one of those for you, try Start > All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). After assert lsp installing all the necessary updates from the last 3 years, I was current with my OS version (SP2). Only after doing this was I able to update my internet browser to IE9. And it is while using IE9 that I have been getting these error messages... iexplore.exe Assert in LSP g_socket_data.lookup(s) == 0 capture\lsp\nolsp\wsp.patches.cpp:1313 under which 3 options are offered... Abort assert lsp error ... Try Again ... Ignore ...I click 'Ignore' once, and the message returns. I click 'Ignore' a second time and it goes away for a bit. It seems to happen most often when I am checking my Yahoo! Mail inbox, though not only then.
