The debug flags up on line 7 "Feb = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_" Set dayRs = db.OpenRecordset("SELECT WrkDays FROM WrkDays ORDER BY WrkMonth;") dayRs.MoveFirst Set DayNum = dayRs.Fields("WrkDays") While Not dayRs.EOF Jan = (Me.BillRate * http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20788409/vba-access-runtime-error-440-automation-error DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Feb = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Mar = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Apr = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext May = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Jun = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Jul = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Aug = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Sep = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Oct = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Nov = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ dayRs.MoveNext Dec = (Me.BillRate * DayNum) * Me.Util_ Wend I am guessing based on how I built this code that I will very likely get a similar error on the lines of code which follow after the "Feb" line. So I want to understand this error more clearly so I can correct future occurances. UPDATE After working with Hans he pointed me to using the recordset.getrows method which accomplished the same process that I was trying to do with less headache. So thank you very much Hans vba ms-access automation ms-access-2007 access-vba share|improve this question edited Dec 26 '13 at 20:25 asked Dec 26 '13 at 17:06 Mr. Finn 64210 I would plead with you to re-name Me.Util_. Use of underscore is certain to create problems, including perhaps the one you are dealing with. &ndash

The user form contain a combobox that uses a drop arrow to reveal a short list of authorized users and 440 automation error a listbox beneath it where the user enters the password that corresponds to their user name. The user names, user passwords, and the password to protect the sheets and workbook all reside on a hidden sheet assessible by the program administrator. I get an error message when I close the userform that reads: Runtime error '-2147417848 (800100108)' Automation error The object invoked has disconnected from its clients. From this point I can close the workbook, but Excel 2003 (and Excel 2000) won't close. I have to force a close through the task manager. It seems I might have eliminated the problem by NOT loading the userform via the macro assigned to that task, but only showing it - frmDE.Show. My cancel button on the userform does unload the form and I don't get the error. Show and Hide, or Show and Unload, I'm OK. But Load - Unload, I get application lock up. And I cannot enter anything into any of the cells. Any ideas about what causes this error and how I ought to best avoid it? The userform seems to be working OK right now, but I'm not comfortable about it. Thanks for any information. Ron Bef
