(troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) Error when opening TM1 Perspectives in Excel 2007 : --- Microsoft Visual Basic --- Automation Error Unspecified Error Cause Security settings in Excel Resolving the problem In Excel, temporarily set the following settings : - Click the Office button on the top-left of Excel. - Click "Excel Options" button - Click "Trust Center" menu - Click "Trust Center Settings..." button - Select "Trusted Locations" menu and add the /cognos/TM1/bin directory where the "TM1p.xla" Perspectives macro file resides. - Select "Add-ins" menu and unselect all the checkboxes - Select "ActiveX Settings" menu and select the last option "Prompt me before enabling all controls with minimal restrictions" and unselect "Safe mode..." option - Select "Macro Settings" menu, select "Enable all macros..." and check "Trust access to the VBA project model" Validate, close Excel and restart TM1 Perspectives If this works, change these settings back to what they were, one by one, until the right minimum settings can be determined. And rumour has it that it's back on that machine again too (I've not been able to check yet).
