Windows version of Bacula below, we are referring to the File daemon (client) only. The Windows version of the Bacula File daemon has been tested on WinXP, Win2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 2012 systems. The Windows version of Bacula is a native Windows port, but there are very few source code changes to the Unix code, which bacula windows binaries means that the Windows version is for the most part running code that has long proved stable on Unix systems. When running, it is perfectly integrated with Windows and displays its icon in the system icon tray, and provides a system tray menu to obtain additional information on how Bacula is running (status and events dialog boxes). If so desired, it can also be stopped by using the system tray menu, though this should normally never be necessary. Once installed Bacula normally runs as a system service. This means that it is immediately started by the operating system when the system is booted, and runs in the background even if there is no user logged into the system. Windows Installation Normally, you will install the Windows version of Bacula from the binaries. Bacula Windows Client Configuration

Message Fernando Arturo Salaic... Guest windows client VSS issues Hi all I just got Bacula to work backing up my linux machines, works like a charm. But now I have to dip http://www.bacula.org/5.2.x-manuals/en/main/main/Windows_Version_Bacula.html my fingers in the windows world. I downloaded the windows client from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/bacula/files/Win32_64/ Installed it and was able to establish communication from my director to this client. (bconsole -> status -> client) But when I execute the backup job I get this VSS error: 21-May 17:45 fgmacjai-fd JobId 160: Fatal error: No drive letters found for generating VSS snapshots. 21-May 17:45 fgmacjai-fd JobId https://www.backupcentral.com/phpBB2/two-way-mirrors-of-external-mailing-lists-3/bacula-25/windows-client-vss-issues-128325/ 160: Error: VSS API failure calling "BackupComplete". ERR=Object is not initialized; called during restore or not called in correct sequence. I checked the shadow copy in the windows machine and it is running. Now Good morning, all. (Good morning, Mr. Doe) My Bacula configuration is up and running well for all jobs but 1.  We have a sharepoint server (ugh)  that just will https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1408843-bacula-fatal-error not allow itself to be backed up.  It gets a fatal error every time we try, whether it is scheduled or a one time back up.  Differential or full, matters not.   ------------------------------------------------- Error: VSS API failure calling "BackupComplete".  ERR=Object is not initialized; called during restore or not called in correct sequence. sharepoint01-fd Warning: VSS Writer "Shadow Copy Optimization Writer" has invalid state.  ERR=The writer vetoed the shadow copy creation process during bacula windows the backup preparation state. ------------------------------------------------ Any ideas? Here's what happened: Ready for this? Bacula wouldn't back up our sharepoint server all of a sudden. Starting last week. It's sharepoint so...................... I just got around to it. Because sharepoint. bacula gave me the error... that lead me to a VSS error in my event viewer which wasn't working because of a timer service error in sharepoint which was started because of a microsoft KB update so by removing the kb update, it fixed the timer service, allowing VSS to run, fixing my bacula problem 2 Text Quote Post |Replace Attachment Add link Text to display: Where should this link go?
