Over the last two weeks I got the BSOD several times and just switched off and on again (possibly not a good move). Jun 2009 Posts: 5 dvdfab error 116 I've had DVDFab 5 since last year. Everything worked fine until I tried burning

into a cheaper dual layer recordable DVD. I got Philips DL on sale and tried burning a couple of different movies they all failed. So I went back to the brand I'd been http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/498989/is-my-hard-drive-dead-problem-signature-07-bad-disk/ using for months with no problems. That is Memorex DL DVDs. Now I'm getting Error 116. I upgraded to DVDFab 6 with the same results. I have Windows XP and below is the log from my last attempt to burn to a Memorex DL DVD. Weirdly enough my single layer DVDs burn just fine. file on my hard drive. Everything started just like it should, I imported the file (2.5 GB) then i clicked on burn, set speed to 8x. Clicked burn, it started like it is supposed to start and then about http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-148354.html 7 or 8 minutes I get an error message "burning failed out of memory". I was using the nero on my old computer with XP and it worked great. I emailed tech support and they told me to raise my virtual memory, i http://forum.dvdfab.cn/printthread.php?t=3351&pp=40 did that and tried again same results. I have tried different media including Verbatim and different speeds and still get the same message. Also I did a clean sweep with Nero Removal Tool, and installed the newest Nero 7 that Nero tech bad disk support was compatible. Any help out there? CWR0316th July 2009, 03:15Post your log of the failed burn, or try ImgBurn. setarip_old16th July 2009, 04:45@rowdy1968 Hi!I tried to recode a file on my hard drive 1) What's the title and Region number of your original DVD? 2) What software and procedures did you use to rip it (remove copy protection and then write) to your hard drive? 3) Does the hard drive version play properly? Ghitulescu16th July 2009, 10:51I imported the file (2.5 GB) then i bad hard disk clicked on burn, set speed to 8x. What kind of rip gave you a 2.5 GB file? Maybe a disk image (NRG)? That means you have several copies of the same movie in different formats on your HDD? That mean you're running out of HDD space, maybe? rowdy196816th July 2009, 14:20I used DVDFab 6 to rip and it was 3.5 GB to my hard drive. The original and the hard drive file plays perfect. My hard drive still has 550 GB and I have 6GB of RAM. I used the same procedure and software on my old XP computer and everything works perfect. I still think it is a setting within Nero 7 or a setting on my new Dell Vista 64 computer. I hope I am posting this right if not tell how. setarip_old16th July 2009, 15:241) As previously requested by "CWR03", please post your NERO log of the failed burn 2) Again, what's the title and Region number of your original DVD? (Depending on the protection scheme used, the rip by DVDFab may be "less than perfect") rowdy196816th July 2009, 23:121) As previously requested by "CWR03", please post your NERO log of the failed burn 2) Again, what's the title and Region number of your original DVD? (Depending on the protection scheme used, the rip by DVDFab may be "less than perfect") The movie i am backing up is The Code Region 1. It rips and burns on my old computer which has the same DVDFab6 and nero 7 ultra on it

02-13-2010 07:33 PM failure to initialize error 112 :confused:help!keep getting error code 112. what are some causes of initializing failure? Have latest version had been working fine till now.Not very computer literate:o.trying to troubleshoot problem. maineman 02-13-2010 07:45 PM Hi gr8ful and welcome 112 HWS_DEVICEINITFAILED 12 // initialization of the writing device has failed This error occurs in the Write phase, correct? Probably a VSO and/or blank media problem. (VSO is the default burn engine for Fab. It's installed with the retail version). Please post (copy & paste) a burn log or 2 and we'll have a look. We need more info. The default location is: C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log maineman 02-13-2010 11:14 PM Hi again gr8ful, We prefer all help dialogue, remains here on the board. This way all parties benefit; those receiving help and those offering help. Plus, it's easy to follow and no one is wondering... How did he fix that? etc., etc. Not to worry. You didn't do anything wrong and I realize you're new at this and we'll help you out The fact that you received a message indicating VSO is working properly, doesn't make it so, but we really need more info regardless. There are several methods to copy & paste, here's one: Simply left click your mouse (and hold the button down) at the beginning of the text you wish to copy > Drag the mouse to the end of the text you're copying, all the while holding down the left button > Now hold down the crtl key and press the c key (you've just copied the text) > To paste it, left click the mouse on whatever location you wish...like a reply box here on the forum or Notepad or wherever. Now hold down the ctrl key and press the v key (you've just pasted the text...congratulations) You're probably going to switch burn engines to Img to resolve this, but one thing at a time gr8ful 02-13-2010 11:49 PM error code 112 3:18 PM 2/13/20102010-
